Wanted I watch advice / information

I don't own expensive watches. Tried a couple of smart watches, Apple and Suunto. Once over the excitement of being able to change the face style and see my heart rate the reality of frequent charging became tedious. I've gone back to the traditional route of eat when hungry, go to bed earlier if I'm tired and reflect upon my dreams/nightmares as required. I rely on my phone if i really need to know the specific time or set an alarm. My wrists now appear the same colour

When i see my family measuring out protein, steps, sleep, water, heart rate etc I wonder how I ever came through all those fish fingers and deep fried chips. I suppose all that arsing about outside 14 hours a day (base jumping, geo something tracking or similar by today's standards) and large volumes of dirt to boost my immune system helped me along. Anyhows I digress. Good luck to OP with his venture down the modern or vintage timepiece route.

The watch market is very quiet at the moment.
I’ve got a selection of high end watches, I’ve shown them to my kids, and they are not interested. They all have Apple or other smart watches. If I leave them to them in the future I reckon they will just get sold for minimum gains. With the cost of servicing being high, I think it will just be a small niche of collectors who will want them.

And the very reason my collection has been reduced.

I am debating whether it’s time (excuse the pun) to maybe sell either all or some of my watches and possibly switch to an Apple iwatch..
Have any of you done this, do you regret the decision if doing so it there a better option as there seems to be various types of iwatch and they appear to change them regularly. I currently have a Breitling Navitimer, Super Ocean, Omega seamaster, Breitling aerospace and a few others.
Many thanks in advance…
I’d keep the Navitimer or the Aerospace and maybe the Omega and sell the rest. Then buy a G Shock and live happily ever after 😬

No interest in smart watches, I've not got any high end pieces, an old animal for work a Tissot moto gp watch & another Tissot that I bought with some funds my mother left me before she passed, totally ruined it by getting acid on it whilst cleaning out a condensing unit on a freezer 😡 awaiting paperwork for my civil service pension feck it am taking it four yrs early so I'll pay off the remainder if the mortgage & treat myself to either an Omga Peter Blake or a Planet Ocean 2201.51.00

I've gone the opposite way, I had a selection of analogue watches, sold them bought an Apple Ultra, sold that and have just bought a Pelagos. After 2 years of my wrist buzzing from messages, doorbell and various other things which when it happened Id take out my phone anyhow I figured Id rather have something which I find pleasing on the eye but doesn't cost so much it would live in the watch winder for special occasions.🤷‍♂️

I had never worn watches until my wife and daughter went halves on an Apple Watch (series 7 for my birthday years ago). I wear it daily and have USB mag docking chargers for it at home/work/caravan/travelling. I also keep it covered in a cheap Amazon clip on protective case, of which I have broken a few but the watch is still mint.

I work out almost daily and its exercise tracking features are superb, even if it’s just getting my 10,000 steps a day in, tracking my heart rate or measuring how much quality sleep I am getting.

It links to my iPhone and is handy for Apple Pay at the supermarket, pub etc rather than fumbling around for my debit card.

If it broke I would buy another immediately, it’s that good.

For a number of years I've had an apple watch, the stainless/sapphire version, more expensive, but the screen is amazingly resistant to any damage from normal use. Sadly it did displace wearing more regular watches, though I do still own and wear them. I find the notification function useful otherwise I'd miss messages. Try one , it is horses for courses.

I would be at a loss without my Apple Watch.

But I do wear a dress watch for the very odd functions. So I would say get into the 21st century with a smart watch and keep a couple of your favourite watches for occasions.

Smart watch is a bit like automatic cars, you never go back.

Work gave me 2 smart watches over the past 2 years part of the wellbeing program. Only tracks health and fitness. It’s a Virgin backed watch. I like it so much that I went for an Ultra 2 with a salary sacrifice deal. Charged in 20 minutes. Don’t have to worry about the phone in the gym. I used as a fitness trainer/tracker device. It’s an instrument that tells you the time.
The £30 device from work is as accurate as the Ultra 2. Which is interesting.

How sad, this race to be ruled by electrons..... springs, levers and incredible mathmatics combined with micro engineering to create a piece of men's jewellry with a function. I tried one of those electric pieces of crap - gave it away because it it is soulless, too 'correct' that goes with the modern, polarised life. The beating heart of my watches fill me with incredulity and pleasure whenever it is on my wrist, which is always except for going to bed, when it is beside me so I can see the time in the dark, without having to push a button to turn a light on.

I enjoy mechanical (and quartz) watches. I thought I’d try the Apple Watch Ultra 2 - it’s a great piece of tech - no question but I will be selling it as I simply don’t use or need all that it can do.

I have a navi timer , a seamaster and an engineer in my draw that I’ve hardly worn since discovering the Apple Watch.
Don’t bother with conventional time pieces anymore

Regret to say Im the same. My Garmin watch does so many other things. I still like a mechanical watch for special occasions though

I have an Apple Ultra #1 for sale, £350 - see advert on here. Great piece of kit but I just don’t wear it. Please drop me a message if you’re interested.
