I think the engine noise was very cleverly engineered by the chaps in Munich.
They replicated the sound of half a dozen rocks in a bucket and untwined the sound a pig makes when eating.
It's to entice the 11xx brigade.
They remove it at the first service... To late by then as they're hooked!!!

Well..... to be fair, its only partially water cooled.
Fully Water Cooled will be an additional extra at a later date I am sure

I reckon that it makes less noise when run on 98 octane - less 'tinkly' from the top end.

They only copied Mazda

Glad i ain't a beta tester. (yes I can afford one and no I don't want one, not in basic form anyways.)
Old news, that site has just been slow to catch-up!
Never the less.....
It sounds like it is a misunderstood version of the fork crimping issue, which as far as I could see was a storm in a tea cup as it has been resolved - I will take some pics of my bike this weekend and show you what they did - although I think that someone has already posted pics on here.
P.S. just because some says something doesn't mean it is true - only old people still believe that
