I know lots of "Tossers" have done this and I have been talking about it for long enough so finally on Wednesday, me and my mate Boycie (Explorer 1200) set off from Larne at 5am. By the time we got to Sligo for breakfast I was starting to feel tired and I didn't think I'd make it so I can now say that Red Bull really does work as I was wired for the rest of the day.
Enjoyed the roads out west and the weather for once was fantastic round Clifden. Killarney was very hot but we hit our first rain coming into Cork and then the whole of the south coast was covered in heavy sea mist.
We then hit heavy fog at Dublin which we had until Banbridge before getting back to Larne at 1.30am.
I took the 800GS which was brilliant (comfort seat fitted) and it even managed 61mpg. Could possibly have done it quicker solo but it was good to talk on the long boring bits.

Good man yourself DD, that's a feckin good ride. :clap:clap:clap

I've been thinking of doing it myself, but just haven't got round to it yet. :o

Well done. It's a tough enough ride. Did it last year and even managed to slip off on a gravel patch near Clifden :blast

Well done. Great feeling to complete it, I suspect !

Planning on doing this in Sept. Won't forget the red bull !!

Congrats, have been talking about this with a fellow GSer, so hopefully we will get round to doing it next year.

Well done.

Red bull does work for sure I think I drank more red bull then the bike did petrol on the IBA SS1000 :jager

worked out the mpg the old fashioned way. Puter said 61, figures say 63.8 - Feckin Brilliant :aidan

Petrol Stations

Just wondering did you have any problems finding petrol stations open in the wee hours.... coming accross from Kerry to wexford ??

Filled up in Killarney at 5pm and got to Wexford town at 10pm and the filling stations in the centre were closed:( but found one on the outskirts. Topped up again at the motorway services at Lusk (24hr). I would imagine if you went clockwise you would have no chance finding fuel out west at night

Thanks for that... planning on following your route, but a 2-3 hours behind you.... which might cause a problem south west and east.....

A little more research i think ;)

Thanks again
