ICELAND - Big Bikes - It’s an adventure not a holiday!

About time I added a few photos to this trip.....I'll try to limit the number of pics of my bike!

I'd had a couple of nights rest follow the previous two week trip and headed out of town with my friend Throstur for dinner

This was my 14th trip around Iceland so was beginning to know my way around

Most of the guys on this trip always seemed very keen to strip off and take a soak in the natural hot pools........I wonder why?

Off we go.

And that was day One

I woke to (for me) familiar shite weather but this was the only half day of poor condition we had on this trip

The weather cleared so I'll just add photos as this is Hollibob's RR

It was a day of wild skies

Morning coffee saw a better day and a slight change of plan allowed to go and see what we couldn't the previous day due to cloud and rain

It's a good job I didn't have any wild mushrooms for breakfast..........

Look carefully and you and see a 640 in a spot bother after clipping a rock

A chef says hi to Bakerman again

I wait, watching their unsuccessful dip

Time for bed....

The other guys needed to take a 2nd Covid test so we headed to town then had an 'eventful day'!

We set off for the main ride of the day much later than planned but it means we'll have good light....for now

Pfft the tide's high

And we'll have to wait it out

Getting the bikes onto high ground in the nick of time

Tide's still coming in

Time to go

And then the fuse on my lights blew which was interesting!

Thanks for the report and super photos. Some great info in there for our trip next year.

Ferry booked from Denmark at the end of June ‘21. Stop of in the Faroe Islands for a couple of nights on the way back.

After an hour or more we stop to add a layer of clothes.

Quite a long and stunning ride with few photos but we were treated to a White Tailed Eagle flying close right over the bikes.

Eventually we make camp

The weather's perfect next morning so after a chat with the others we decide to stay for two nights here.

Time for another coffee and smoke......no rush

Andres will know where we are. After all having a swim and soak in a hot swimming pool.

Into 'town'

I ride back to camp alone so I can have a look around

In the evening Mark H (Pacific) borrow the 640 and we both ride to the end of the trail

Thanks for that, I do put a lot of effort into trying to tailor the trips to the riders.
It's not always 100%, partly since I have no control over the weather but hopefully everyone who's been on any of my trips in Iceland, Morocco etc. does reflect on a good time

The next day proved to be quite a challenge for Mark and pillion Anna, one of the very long trails was rougher than in previous years which made for a particularly tiring and uncomfortable ride two up on a GS. But hats off to them both for completing it

I give Mark the choice of an early easier but beautiful trail or another slightly more difficult one, top man chooses the latter

If you're unlucky and catch a rock this simple looking crossing can catch you out.......as I found out a few years ago
