hi i've just fitted an autocom kit 3 to my gsa and i am wondering where to locate my icom radio for bike to bike comms.:nenau , all ideas and suggestions are truely welcome.:type thanx

It would be really helpful to know what type of bike you want to mount this on! Would it be an 1150GSA or a 1200GSA?

i have a 1200gs and i have me radio under me seat next to where me tool kits goes. if thats any help........they seem to work ok for us........janie xx

Radio location

Depends if it is permanently hard wired- I put mine in one of those Hein Gericke Touareg handlebar bags- radios fit in there great and you can remove it when not in use.

Depends if it is hard wired into the autocom power though....

Assuming you have a Kit 300 (Autocom Super-Pro Avi) then you need
Autocom part 1425 Power lead and interface lead for Icom F22SR - £20.
If you have bought the interface cable alone, they may take it back if you have a recent receipt.

Hope this helps.

Touareg bag

From memory, the bag was about 7 quid- will hardly break the bank.

A Kit 3 is a Active-7 which can not bike power any radios due to is its design. Due the lack of room on the GS's 1150's or 1200's we always recommend running the transceivers on person or into tank bags.

We normally supply a Part 1512 to extend the short interface lead coming off the systems so the din plug comes out with the riders lead, normally between the tank and the seat between the riders legs.

I hope this helps

where do you route the wiring to connect wire to interface upto bag??

My Active-7 is on top of the airbox cover and both the rider lead and the grey accessory lead come up between the seat and the tank. The interface cable then runs across the top of the tank to the handlebar bag- as the interface cable is quite long and coiled it doesnt interfere with the steering at all.

Plus point is that you can quickly get at the radio if you need to adjust the volume etc.

thanx rich, i got coil lead for icom

The bags are large enough for a radio and an Ipod will fit in also- they are really handy for odds and sods- bits of change etc, ferry tickets etc.
