IE6 - trouble with links

It seems strange to me asking computer advice on a bike BB but I always seem to get the answer I need.....

When I click on a link on a web page that opens in a new window the link fails to appear in the address bar of the new window and I have to go back to the page and select properties to copy and paste the address into the new window.
This has occured since a lock up and restart so I`m assuming some settings have got changed.

Any idea where to look?
