If you're thinking of upgrading your 1200

Hi folks,

I recently went through the process of deciding if I should upgrade my 1200 to the 1300... Done a lot of research and finally bit the bullet.

So, I figure I'd share my experience and thoughts here if anyone is interested.

I'm not trying to convince or sell anything, just my thoughts if you're considering the upgrade.

Great video . The 1300 is definitely the best GS produced . It’s light , flickable, fast and smooth and very comfortable , especially with the screen in the high position. For a long trip I will be taking the 1300 .

That said for short to medium journeys I tend to take the 1150 . Maybe it’s something to do with character

Yes, 100% agreed. I think the lack of character you mention is due to how smooth they made this bike. I have hopes that an exhaust will bring some of that back...

But it's hard as you cannot test and return and they're usually mighty expensive.

I can cope with a lack of character . Normally means you’re not have to work as hard to go fast and enjoy the twisties. We have to embrace technology enhancement

Yup, can't have them all. I actually love how smooth it is. But I would be lying if I didn't say I missed the character or roughness of the 1200.

Like I said, a bit more aggressive can should do the trick
