Hi all,
Bit wierd this. Last couple of times I've gone to the bike and put the key in and turned it, nothing has happened.... Dont get the ignition coming on, dash light up or anything.
Take the key out, turn it round and put it back in again and hey presto....It all works fine!
Anything to worry about?

Also I've noticed the bike "pooping back" when I roll off the throttle sometimes. Having only previously owned 1150gs's I'm not used to this. Is it normal spec for an 800gs?

Any help appreciated

Thanks

Ignition problem might be the micro-switch on the bottom of the ignition barrel. Usually fails in the can't switch the ignition off mode though.

Happy with that! Quite like the popping back....just put the sh@ts up me first time it did it!
Ref the ignition problem, I'll liberally soak with electrolube and keep my fingers crossed. Caught some previous threads on the ignition issues and dont want to be going down that route!

Popping Back

The "Popping Back" on the overrun is down to the air injection into the exhaust to clean up the emissions by making sure there is no un-burnt fuel getting past.
I personally don't mind it but have found that as the miles have gone onto the bike, (17K) it does get louder.

I had a problem with my Ignition switch, on first turning on the dash would stay blank for a few seconds, after a few months I needed to switch off and on a few times. The bike never failed to start but I could not replicate the fault at the dealers. I ended up leaving it with them for a week, the result was a new part needed fitting under the lock, probably the micro switch mentioned earlier.
