Hi All,

I've noticed that my new to me, and high-ish mileage 2014 LC makes some odd noises when the ignition is on, but the engine is off.

The first is just like a high pitched whirring noise. The exhaust flap is seized on this bike, but I don't think it's the flap motor as I can hear that go through it's cycle. This is a constant, higher pitched, almost electrical noise.

The second noise sounds ABS related. If I'm pushing the bike around with the ignition on, but the engine off and apply the front brake, there's a 'twanging' noise. I've not noticed any braking problems when riding the bike, but then I've never seen the ABS light flash on either!

Before I take the bike to the dealers, I just wanted to make sure that this isn't one of those 'they all do that sir' kind of things!

Cheers,
Matt

You should hear the exhaust flap motor cycle and there is a low volume but high pitch noise from the electrical circuit. It might be processor or LCD display? related but nothing to worry about. Mine does it as well. At least your hearing is still good.

Electrical whine should be the fuel pump

That's good news, sounds like the whirring noise is normal at least.

Any ideas about the ABS/brake noise?

The twanging noise may be the front brake discs moving on there mounting bolts as they are designed to move a bit.

Good thought, but this noise seems to be coming more from somewhere above the engine. It's quite loud and sounds more mechanical in nature.
I'm guessing it's not normal!
