ignition problem

Has anyone had or could suggest a reason for the following ignition problem.
The last week or so my 06 gs ignition doesnt come on until i reset the key two or three times ( ie key in turn on ,nothing)
Any ideas ?

elecrical contacts at the bottom of switch,common prob,replace is best course of action on a bike that old

Piss easy to do. Part cost me about 75 quid. 15 mins to swap over

I have the same problem on a 2010 gsa can a switch fail so soon.

yours is prob the barrel full of shite,copious wd40 and an air line to blow it out and you will prob be good to go

Did this on my 06 GSA approximate 10,000 miles ago, No problems since.

Mine on my 06 gsa did the same I bought a new one then sprayed wd40 in my old one... never fitted the new one and its still fine now 2 years on..
Go down the wd40 route first

Asda do a £2 can of their own brand of WD40 I keep lots of them handy for this sort of thing, it's in a black can and it's very good.

fixed . it was the ignition switch . £ 65 from Park Lane and 15 mins fiddling job done
Just need to find a way to get the f**king front light reflector back in its place

Usually lights are sealed units but as that's a costly replacement there's nothing to lose by Dremelling the lens off the back case and sort out the problem. The reassemble with electronic grade silicone from Maplin, eBay etc.

Little black box on the bottom of the ignition switch/ barrel 2 small screws that you can get to from underneath.

Same.....

Same problem with mine the other week. Fitted a new switch, job done. However the copius WD40 solution worked for a couple of weeks with no repeat of the issue. Use the bike every day so needed 100% realiability, hence new switch.
