Ignition problem

Went to start bike today to go for a spin turned on ignition bike went through pre-start checks pushed starter button when finished Nothing, switched off ignition and let bike go through checks agin checked side stand switch and that bike not in gear, pushed starter button again bike started ,let bike run for a while and then switched off using the ignition key, bike kept running even with the key out of the ignition only way to turn off was with the toggle above the starter button bike will now start with no key in the ignition and can be turned off using the toggle switch above the starter button the only way to now turn off ignition is to disconnect the battery.Anyone suffered anything similar

If you diconnect the battery & leave for 10min & reconnect will the system reset, Have to do this on some cars that have been jumpstarted (worth a try)
