Ignition switch issue?

Turned the key this morning and started the bike up and noticed my tail light was not illuminated. Changed the bulb and still nothing however brake light worked correctly.

Realised that fuse 2 relates to the tail light and parking light so I inspected the parking light and it was off.

Was just about to look at fuses when I touched the ignition key. If I turn the key too far to the right the lights go off however if I move it back anticlockwise by a couple of mm they come back on again.

Sprayed everything with WD40 cos that fixes everything dosent it?

Any ideas. Is my ignition switch on its way out?

Might be the short loom from the switch to the harness.

Wonder how long I can nurse it for before total faliure.

Ign switch.

This length of wiring loom from switch to main harness is avialable as a spare
from your local friendly BMW dealer, I brought one before a long trip as this happend to a friend, not expensive and easy to install.

Careful getting the little grub screw out from under the dab of paint.
It's a tiny little bugger
