Gearing up to tackle the ignition loom broken wires, the silver screw that holds the switch in, is it a slot head or a crosshead ?

Stewart

Slot. Tiny. Very.

Tinkle, ping, ding, silence.

Lose it you will. Very easily.

No danger of losing this silver screw, it will not budge, so I decide to warm up the metalwork it goes into with my hot air gun, did you know that a hot air gun produces enough heat to melt solder? so here I am having soldered the wire back onto the switch, and still the silver screw mocks me, can someone who has removed the bloody thing tell me does the screw thread into the plastic body of the switch ? or the pot metal body of the lock, I am considering drilling the screw out and tapping the pot metal and using a grubscrew to hold the switch in place.

It takes a bit of force in the beginning(locktite?) and it's screwed into the plastic of the switch not the metal. easy job once the screw's out:)

Timely thread...just had my iggy switch out to resolder the red wire.
Didn't drop the dinky grub screw either.:D
Anyone know how much the cable assembly costs?.

In the event of tinkle, ping silence, I have a spare little screw that I have been saving for years if you would like it:thumb2

But only if you loose yours first though:bounce1

Thanks for the offer, a little silver screw ought to show up pretty well on my oil impregnated floor, but I will keep it in mind :thumb2 At the moment, the sound of it falling on the floor would be music to my ears :D

I also have a very small screwdriver, and failing that,I have a very large hammer and a fridge full of beer:beerjug:

Be careful!
If you go to Vern's workshop, you'll be seduced by the gleam of alloy and end up with a lighter wallet. I can't go near the bloody place without coming away with a new piece of Vern's finest :D

Better than Arkwrights general store:D

Stewart,I'm just south of Chester on the A41,Just give me a ring before you come over and give me a chance to get the metal polish out:augie
