Hi , not been around for a few years...
My 2008 Adventure has just started to play up. I turned the key to On but there were no lights on the display and the fuel pump did not prime. No response from the starter button either.
I assume that this is the ignition switch under the barrel for the key but wanted to ask if there is a common point of failure that is reparable? Failing that, are there any alternatives to paying the French BMW parts counter prices?

Check battery condition and maybe get some WD40 in the switch and give it a few turns of the key. Gotta be worth a try

Depending on what is fitted, you may be able to repair

Certainly on my 06 bike, the switch box once removed from the barrel ( 2 teeny weeny torx screws) was just a matter of pop the top off, clean with contact cleaner, adjust / clean the microswitch, and reassemble

The replacement unit was potted so no adjustment / cleaning possible
