i suppose it's a bit late to mention that huggers look pants on a GS anyway?

Must admit I have not got around to fitting mine; and it has been quite easy to keep clean so have been in no rush - have been known to be out in the dark after a rideout cleaning it down before it goes back in the garage anyway!

Hugger now on
Managed to fit the hugger this weekend.
No real Drama.. .fairly straight forward. Most fiddly bit was moving the ABS sensor cable
.. only thing I struggled with was torque settings, but the BMW dealer supplied these FOC .. LOL
I would draw attention to one point.. .I wasn't sure whether to refit the washers between the bolt head and hugger bracket... so I did... but decided it was far to close to the disc bolt heads (about 1mm) ... the instructions aren't clear, and make no mention of leaving them on so I removed them.

On removing wheels
1100GS - mine used to balance on either front or back when the opposite removed.
1200GS - I need to put my bag of gold ingots on the back seat/rack to keep the front off the ground (04 model), or use my front paddock stand.
1150GS - no idea. But when I advised a mate to prop his bike on the belly pan when removing both wheels (for a double tyre change) I was impressed on returning later to see he had tied his handlebars to the roof (!) of his garage. Wow, that works, I informed him. He came clean and said he hadn't listened to me, and on removing his front wheel after the rear, the bike slowly but unstoppably rolled forward off its centrestand and crunched down on his tools!! The ropes were his attempt to haul it back up!! Cor, did I larf!

Thinner bracket for Ilmberger hugger
Have just received the thinner bracket so resolve the fouling problem of the hugger and pannier frame but I'm at a loss as to how to fit it. Two pages of German instructions which I cannot follow at all.
There are three shorter bolts, three washers, a thinner bracket and a long thin bolt and washer. The thinner bracket, which I imagined would simply replace the original thick bracket, has the holes drilled at different centres to the originala dn so won't fit anyway.
Has anyone else received the kit and how did you fit it?

It also looks as if there are two different modified brackets available, one for the GS and one for the GSA, and that they have sent the wrong one in error.
Currently under discussion and will keep you informed in case anyone else is in the same boat.

I am in the same boat as Purds the wrong screws with the metal plate. Can anyone advise. I emailed ilmberger they asked for pictures of my bike GSA 2007 model with lugguage fitted. Has anyone fitted the ilmberger hagger with the correct metal plate kit on a GSA 2007 with lugguage and been sucessfull

Perfect fit as long as you remove, or shorten the plastic shroud on the rear spring... if you dont, then you will end up with a hole in the front !

the rubber stop also rests against the swing arm at the front nearside and in my experience it will not stay there for long... so my advice would be to cement the stop in place or you will lose it. This stop rubs up and down the arm with movement and the friction will pull it out ! That stop could be a design fault and it would be better if the hugger did not touch the swing arm at all.
Am I happy with the Ilmberger hugger.? .. I am not sure and mine may be for sale on here soon... I cannot stand the noise that I am getting from the rear end!
The dealer has looked at the bike today. Either I have a final drive problem (2000miles) or the new hugger is amplifying noises because it is attached directly to the drive.
My hugger is now removed for further experiments !
