Im Happy so far .64 plate GSA

my new GSA came yesterday .sept 1st i took it out and have done 420 miles on it over the last two days, breaking the engine and gear box in nicely..

I had a Loan GS-WC since june due to the RT cock up, so got my hard earned cash back and placed it down on this it…Im pleased to say the Bike ran smoothly, no leaking gear boxes or shaft drives, no dodgy brakes or water pumps …..it seems a tad noiser than a GS ,I'm putting this down to tyres though . I noticed the weight difference with a full tank of fuel when cornering and braking.I also notice its not as Flighty and responsive, this will be the weight and the Bigger crank i think , I've yet to take the bike over 5000 RPM so difficult to say if it pull away as quick . I love the road presence of this bigger machine though, Its white , its bright with its Lights on so I'm hoping to stay safe and have plenty of fun in the meantime …

I didn't want the Keyless ignition due to all the probs I've heard about it on the K16. I ordered the topBox separately not at the time of the bike sale and got it with a good reduction , the Sat nav was negotiated at the time of sale, Happy bunny so far , I won't speak to soon though …fingers crossed

Picked up mine yesterday, rode it home and put it in the garage, stuck on my top box and then went to change the oil filler cap for the billet one I had, bearing in mind my 1150 had a fantastic comprehensive toolkit, my 1200 gsa had a full toolkit , looked around the new bike and lo and behold a crappy screwdriver, a spline drive key and a chatty spanner under the pillion seat, not even the tool to remove the original plastic oil filler cap (good if you are away touring).
Ended up using the one out of the old 1200.

It might be quicker than the old bike but it doesn't handle any better than my older bike and the wc engine sounds like a tumble drier full of ball bearings at tick over and lower revs, yet to be seen if I am going to love this one

Enjoy your new bike they certainly have some road presence especially with the led lights blazing

I think some of the plastics are thinner and cheaper, screen winglets for sure and some of the plastic mouldings making up the front end bodywork. I cut my hands to ribbons giving it a clean. Lots of sharp edges

However, there are a lot of improvements as well so a bit of a trade off I guess. Locking sat nav mount as standard, better length side stand, better lights, cruise control etc etc.

Wheel finish in Matt black looks tough and hard wearing. Easy to keep clean. Black engine paint looks thick and robust as does the rear swing arm finish.

Time and maintenance will tell

Or are you waiting for the partial 'keyless' locks that in reality aren't, because you need a key for the gps/seat/luggage locks

Yeah I don't understand why you'd buy a bike if you were that unhappy with it?
Not sure about the GSA but I can't see any obvious poor quality construction other than the screen mounts/circlips. I can't say about the possible clutch/gearbox issues as I haven't had any.
Some appear to have had major paint bubbling issues but I've had the same with every BMW I've owned as their paint quality and application processes are crap!
The oil filler removal tool is mentioned in the manual and this type of non toolkit is par for the course

Dave enjoy the new bike - had my GSA since June and done just under 4,000 miles and no issues so far and cannot find anything not to like

Only minor complaints were the screen supports once I fitted a taller screen were not up to the job (Cymark extra supports cured this). Also I personally did not like the seat and have fitted the Touratech extra tall one instead.

Certainly have no wish/need for keyless ingnition

............and of course "action man" green is the best colour
