and this as well...
I need to get a USB hub and a CF card reader for my iMac. Do they need to be specifically Mac compatible or will any do? And can you recommend some please?

USB Hubs are pretty generic items and don't usually involve drivers so any hub should work. You must also consider what you want to attach to the hub, items such as printers and most scanners, which are powered, will not draw power from the hub and along with mice and keyboards can easly be attached via a hub powered by the iMac USB. However if you intend attaching items that are USB (bus) powered, such as some external drives, iPods etc then you should look at a powered hub as the power from your iMac USB may not be enough to supply multiple items.

Card readers however do involve drivers, though many are automatically recognised by OSX. Therefor you should look for Mac compatable card readers. SanDisk seems good in its Mac compatability but I've even had cheap jessops readers work though strangely the compact flash version did not whilst the smartmedia reader did.

I have a Belkin Powered Hi Speed USB 2.0 Hub attached to mine, which gives an extra 7 usb connection points...

If you want to use the keyboard during boot up, to boot from CD or similar, don't connect the keyboard via the hub.
