I picked up my iMAc from the Apple store today, its had its hard drive replaced under the recall. However it now wont connect wirelessly to my Netgear router at all which is a right PITA because I backed up to a Buffalo wireless NAS using Time Machine before I took it in :blast

I am connected to the router using ethernet at the mo' . The MAc just keep saying that my WPA key is not correct , even tho it is. I even accessed the router, changed the password to something else and the iMAc still wouldnt let me access it wirelessly.:blast:blast:blast:blast:blast

Anyone had the same problem after their HDD was replaced ????

I know this isn't a solution and it depends if you move your iMac around, but on desktop computers I'd alway connect via ethernet where possible, rather than wireless. I only use wireless for my laptop.

The only help I can offer is try resetting you PRAM. Details can be found (and probably better help than this) on the www.macrumors.com forum pages. Very useful source of Mac help.

Oh, also, you could try going into System Preferences/Network/Advanced/Favourite Networks and removing the current setting for your wireless router (on the Mac) then joining that network again as a new entry.

Im with Tuffty

Not with the ethernet thing but with the network settings thing. Delete your network from the network list and add a new network, re enter all details, that should do the job. It happens to me every now and again for some reason, so I keep all my network passwords etc handy

Did you back it up to external HD
Or time machine
Too late now if you didn't but plug it back it and time machine does the rest :nenau

Can't really help with the original query, but I backed my iMac up to an external HD via Time Machine ... had fears but they were unfounded. Picked up my iMac after replacement HD under warranty, plugged it all in ....

Click wrrrrrrrrrrrrr worked just fine. Re-installed everything and it was just as if it hadn't been away.

The problem is that I decided to be clever and buy a wireless Backup drive (NAS) to back up my HDD before I took it in for repair/recall so that I could access all my files from anywhere in the future.

When I turned the Mac on and went through the initial options it asked if I wanted to restore from a time machine back up but because it wouldnt connect with the router first it couldn't see the NAS so I couldn't restore. I need to fix the wireless issue first. :blast

There aren't any current setting as the whole HDD got replaced , what I dont get is it appears to see RUSHY the network (and wont connect) BUT it sees no other networks. Yet when I turn my works laptop on it sees mine and about 4 other neighbours.
