hi guys after being through three imput shaft seals in as many years on my 1150 i have done a bit of digging around,and i can now get the same size seal but with a double inside lip ( the genuine bmw seal is hopeless)its single lip.
now i know those who are clued up on these matters say the oil comes up the side of the threads on the seal carrier .but the last one i did was installed with silicone around the threads and yet its only lasted less than a year .
if anyone needs a one give me a shout i can get them posted to you for a tenner :thumb2
 
Did you replace the sacrificial part just forward of the input bearing ??

Nope?? There is possibly why you have 3 x failed seals They should NEVER fail (Unless they have used that stupid "membrane seal that they have come up with!!!! The brown one sthat you have to pre shape to the shaft diameter or it rips)

unless oil becomes contaminated and you get abrasion Or the breather gets blocked and you get pressurisation
