I was in the middle of changing all the stainless steel bolts on the bike which I bought from Steptoe.
Anyway, through my own ignorance and lack of mechanical knowledge I (misread or just did not know:blast) and removed the wrong bolt which will now not go back in.
As you look at the bike (1150GS) from the back, the underneath of the left crank case, I removed a large bolt that will now not go back into the hole. The bolt itself is unusual as the threads are at the head end and none at the bottom end and is long enough that it streches from the back of the crank case to the front where it lines up at a dimple on the front of the case. This is suggesting to me that it holds something in place and that something has dropped down inside the crankcase, hence why it won't go back in. Someone please tell me that I am wrong and its not really that bad to sort.

Please, please, please.

Rob

It's happened before, Someone who know oilheads better than me will post up a link to how to TRY to rectify it easily [without stripping bike down ] I think its the tensioner bolt that you have removed by mistake..............

Here's hoping that I don't have to strip it down.
Thanks

So tell me - before you removed that large bolt, which one in the kit did you have to hand ready to replace it with ??? because there isn't anything of that size in the kit for the engine. :augie

Can't beat a bit of pre-emptive bolt undoing...
