Independent Essex Servicing etc.

My very low mileage 51 plate 1150GS as been in "storage" for a number of years and I'm in the process of sorting it out. Can anyone recommend a good independent mechanic/technician in Essex,,,,Rayleigh/Chelmsford/Southend area preferably. I last used Cannon when they were at their old premises and apart from Sue Cannon, I felt a little indifferent towards them (anyone else felt the same?). Any help will as always be appreciated.

Was a guy Who was BMW trained called Lou Crump,near to you done some work on one of my bikes many moons ago.. don't know if he's still around though

I've used Lou in Hullbridge and Olly in Chelmsford. Lou is an ex-BMW technician who works from home now. He is very reasonably priced and knows his onions. He worked on an R1100R that I used to own. I don't think he is trained on the 1200's.
Olly is younger (50ish) and worked at Cannons before they moved so has more recently been on BMW training courses. He is more pricey than Lou but still cheaper than Cannons. He serviced my current 1150GS, replaced the rear wheel bearing and tyres.
Both are nice blokes and both made a good job of working on my bikes.

Another vote for Steptoe. He got my 1100 running perfectly after 5 visits to BMW main dealer achieved nothing. And I travelled from Devon to get to him.

I was there yesterday so he could balace my wheels after I put my new tyres on. He did the front but couldn't do the rear as there was a problem with his machine, but he wouldn't take any money for it. I like that sort of thing as I know he'll make money out of me again and it helps to build a relationship with them.
He has an 1150GSA in at the moment with a knackered final drive I think. I noticed it had a UKGSER sticker on the beak or tank. Anyone who still comes on here?

I’ve been using Olly now since Cannons moved to Braintree, Top man, and honest, and knows his stuff. I would 100% recommend Reids Motorcycles to anyone, In fact I have and all my Motorcycling friends now frequent his premises.
