I know this has been asked before but it's a few years ago....

Does anyone use an independent outfit for servicing their GS - preferably Bradford (or close)? I've no real beef with Alan Jefferies (other than their prices ) but as mine is now out of warranty can't see the point in paying through the nose any more.

Had quotes from Grahams Motorcycles (Buttershaw), Bradford Motorcycles (Canal Road) and Motostrada (Shipley) - any feedback appreciated.

Hi, I use Stuart Rafferty who has a little workshop unit based in York = no dealer shop to maintain or high staffing costs.
He was recommended to me and I know several GS riders in my local IAM group who use him. I find his costs around 60% of dealer prices.
Don't be put off by the web site, give him a call or ride over to see him:

Wouldn't touch Moto Strada with a barge pole. I had a major issue with them a few years ago and their customer service was disgraceful.

If you dont mind heading Huddersfield way check out www.mollsprings.co.uk
have used Andy for 4 years now never had a problem ,few mates use him now as well. No fancy garage , boil the kettle if you want a drink , does BMW servicing and has all diagnostics.

Can't speak for Adventure bike warehouse, although they seem highly thought of, but from personal experience I'd also recommend Andy at mollsprings. Real nice guy and he knows BWMs inside out and back to front.

Thanks for the info guys... I really appreciate the feedback. :thumb2

But does no-one out there actually use anywhere in/near Bradford itself? I'm a bit limited as to the distance I can travel - for reasons too complicated to explain.

Without understanding of the issue it's hard to comprehend why a place other than Bradford is ok. Perhaps it's because you have no other means to go home whilst the service is being done...? just guessing.....

If it's a bike shop, ask them for a loan bike. Most will.
When I take my bike to Stuart Rafferty in York, it's about 15 minutes into town so I spend a few nice hours in York.
Most shops / dealers will try to help you out with transportation - just ask!

I think I used this guy to service my 916 when I lived in York. Top bloke I recall and didn't charge silly money....:thumb2

Seconded.
My 12 year old 1100 has never run better after Andy had has spanners do a dance over it.;)
