India 11 day ladakh tour with expedition motorcycles

This is a pain as well now as the places that issue them are few and far between, Exeter for example has one place, it’s a Costcutter shop on a housing estate on the outskirts of the City, the next nearest place is one shop in Torquay!!

Al.
Same here
Nearest one is over half an hour away.
🤦

Only needed it once in three years.

But when you need it, you need it.

My boss got on a plane home with a tampon up his arse.
Hot tip - avoid meat dishes. I ate chicken once and Ghandi had his revenge! Second tip - mango juice is excellent as a restorative. No need for tampons!

This is one I’m hoping to do in the next year or thereabouts, so I’m very much hoping there’ll be an extensive ride report with pics…………😉😄

I went to India last year. Not for biking but to watch test match cricket. A few things I noted, both good and bad.

The bad start. The E visa application form as a bastard. It kept defaulting to say that my mother in law was from Pakistan and rejecting my application. Sizing a photo took bloody ages. The whole form took the lovely Mrs Derek and I about 2 days!
Immigration wanted a name and address for our tour guide. We didn't have one. That didn't compute. I used the name and address of the manager at our first hotel. They didn't care whether this was correct or not, as long as the box was filled in.

The good. Our hotels were all really good, except the room in Delhi was a smoking room. They soon sorted me a non-smoking room. All hotel staff were very friendly and helpful, sorting us Uber tuk-tuks, recommending restaurants etc.
Indian people were always interested in our trip. We were with the Barmy Army and wore branded shirts. Indians are cricket mad and loved that we travelled there for cricket. They wanted selfies with us, both at the grounds and in the streets.
Food was fantastic. One rather good restaurant we went to, 8 of us, all hungry. We demolished the menu and the total bill was £56 or £7 per head. It was a no alcohol place but that wasn't an issue for us. Food at the grounds was also good. 4 samosas for £1 or a chicken biryani for £1.80. No one got ill.
A day at the test match costs £3. Headingley this year against India is costing £95 per day.

The ugly. Traffic. Our 45 minute coach from Hyderabad cricket ground to our hotel took 3 hours one evening.
Mozzies on the coast. I got bitten 47 times one evening while eating outdoors.

I loved India and look forward to returning. It was a fantastic experience.

My neighbour went there to ride Himalayas in the Himalayas. He too loved it although he found it very hard going, but he is in his mid 60s. The altitude didn't help much, but he coped with the more rural traffic, whereas we were in big cities. I think I'll stick to cricket tours.

Just a quick update, me and 4 friends ended up going to india and doing the ladakh 11 day tour with motorbike expeditions,

What a fabulous expedition it was, great company to use and we really enjoyed it, trails/roads/scenery was breathtaking, challenging riding but that made the trip enjoyable, 3 of us on comms were really having fun with the hairpin bends heading up to the various high passes on the gutless royal enfields lol

Last full day riding ended up at the highest pass in the world (umling la pass) was literally the icing on the cake, great trip for some novice adventurers like our group, great value and well worth doing if you want a great motorcycle tour without any organising or planning 😀

Could you say which company you went with, and what time of year please?

Hi there no probs,

Cheers for that. Would you recommend them?

Post #28 reads like a recommendation, to me at least:

Yes 100%, great staff and looked after the team, they also delivered fantastic value for money compared to similar company's doing it, 👏 👍 they have excellent reviews and I can see why,
If your a well seasoned adventurer then you may prefer the freedom of planning your own trip, however if you want a simple holiday where its all taken care of, book it, you will not regret it, the 411 royal enfields are a bit gutless, but just the job for the terrain, you can pay an extra £300 for the newer 450's if you want a bit more go, roads are challenging, sometimes you think your doing well considering how rough the tracks are, then a suzuki alto with 6 blokes in it will be coming the other way lol 😀
