Rinehart do an exhaust system for the Challenger (but you probably knew that) I don't know if that includes headers as well or just slip ons.

I was watching a Youtube vid last night by "Rides with 2 Indians" where he had a stage 2 (pipes and air filter and cams) fitted to his before it left the dealer from new. He then got into discussion with Lloyd'z Motor Works, who make their own cams. He then spent $3600 for their cams and a tune on their dyno and gained a little hp but lost torque numbers so he had less than a stock bike! Not a happy bunny!

The explanation was that he had decatted (iirc) with his exhaust system so little back pressure, causing his torque values to drop. The solution? Buy the Lloydz 2 into 1 system!! People who have done so are reporting 140 ish hp and 130-140 torgues.

All interesting stuff.........or not

Crazy ideas as it might be , why not get a Challenger and live with it for a while before deciding you need to make it sound shite ?
Seems a bit daft to rule out buying a bike simply based on whether or not you can fit aftermarket exhausts !

Well I've been doing my research on an American site and it's looking good. Just need to look at the colour I like in the flesh.
Plus I might need Captain Arsey to get me some tail pipes on his travels
If I get one it wouldn't be until next year as I wouldn't use it I the winter anyway.

What does that mean for changing exhausts ? Full system or just tail pipes.

Tail pipes need ports for O2 sensors to screw into. USA do not so imported tailpipes wont work and US aftermarket not yet up to speed on producing EU pipes as so low volume.

Ah good to know. Thanks for the info. I'll have to look into if they will be producing any.

Pretty sure the O2 sensors on the Challenger are in the header pipes, not the "mufflers"

I was thinking that but I've only watched American videos so not sure. I'll ask at the dealership if I get there tomorrow.

Sad as it may seam i would. I personally like a bike with a bit of sound especially a big v-twin. Whats the point of something like a Harley sounding like a sewing machine.
But its all good now as i can.

I ride on long trips with three guys on Indians. A Roadmaster and two Challengers. Both sound loud and throaty with standard pipes. Nice bikes. I wouldn’t want one for the rides we do though. They are really heavy and in Ireland last week, struggled in ferocious rain in the Sligo mountains.

I ride on long trips with three guys on Indians. A Roadmaster and two Challengers. Both sound loud and throaty with standard pipes. Nice bikes. I wouldn’t want one for the rides we do though. They are really heavy and in Ireland last week, struggled in ferocious rain in the Sligo mountains.

Yet once on the move the Challenger is very manoeuvrable.
My RKS was just fine in the Vercors and the Challenger would be even better . Why did they struggle in the rain ? Sounds like it’s more down to the riders than the bikes !

I owned a Roadmaster for for about 18 months, had to sell it to pay a tax bill; however it handled way better than it should for it's size and was certainly not upset by the rain, in fact the fairing with electric screen and lower leg fairings kept most of it off you.

That said; when on the standard OEM Dunlops of the time it was frightening, they were like concrete hoops that offered no grip at all in the wet and the bike would slide about. Changed out the tyres and all was good.
