The indicators work fine mostly, but they seem to speed up intermitently. Now, it's both front and rear bulbs that flash quickly, so not a blown bulb.

I've had a look online and apparently the quick flash is a possible indication of a bad earth in the lighting system, but all my lights work :blast

Any ideas where I should start to look? All the indicators have been off, cleaned up, and the wiring checked.

Cheers peeps :thumb

I'd pull all relevant connectors a refit to get better contacts, I believe it's a good idea to do that throughout the bike every year or two.......anyway I'm surprised you've moved on from hand signals:rob

Still use them :D

My 1150 did the same, went through changing bulbs, flasher relays checking earths etc, all to no avail.
In the end I fitted a couple of inline resistors as per led indicators which cured it ? God knows why.
Strange that when I fitted heated grips and put on a new right hand*switchgear I had to take off the resisors to get the indicators to work correctly

I would be looking at contacts/corrosive connections and relay. Relay seems most likely.

Leds are a common issue with relays due to the lower draw. Mine are good old fashioned bulbw so no such issues.
Is the relay bm specific? If not. Can fit a digital relay which will run at a set pattern hopefully.

As with others, I'd start with breaking and making any relevant connectors (I squirt a blob of ACF50 in them when they're apart - it was formulated for this purpose).

If its the relay, the cost is a bit of a surprise (I had to change mine last year) - I thought the nice man at Motorworks was taking the p*ss...

I bought my 1150 a year ago with 78,000 on the clock from a beloved brother on this site and two indicators have given up in that time - both just needed a clean up of the contacts to the bulbs with some wet n dry... plus a little dash of acf50 prevention...

Greatest respects to your high mileage self sir... might be simple wear n tear...

both aforementioned bulbs still blinking on demand with a paddle press 10,000 miles later...

best wishes....
