Indicator stalk snapped

Hi folks, in trying to remove a rear indicator I've found the steel shaft has rotten and on trying to undo it it has snapped. The bolt that would have been inside the indicator stalk has rusted so badly I can't get any purchase on it to get it undone. Has anyone else found this, motoworks techs say its a common problem, I suppose unless you done remove indicators for any reason you would never know.
I need to get the bolt out so I can fit a new stalk.....any ideas

Depending on how much stump you have, consider sawing a good groove into it with a hacksaw, then using a screwdriver to unscrew it. Failing that, I'd guess you'll have to drill out what's in there.

The Beast is the first bike I've owned with such robust turn signals. I tell people half the bike is made of cast iron and the rest out of good old cherman shteel. If mine eventually go, I'll replace them with radiator hose as shown by my Virginia countryman here.

In the end it was a case of removing the pannier rail and get a small angle grinder in there to cut the nut off.........all done now.
