Hi all,

I've just bought a 04 F650GS and the indicators stay solid on when the handlebar switch is set to either left or right (front and rear left solid on when indicating left and front and rear right solid on when indicating right)

The previous owner said the bike had an alarm before and the previous owner has removed it, and since then the indicators don't blink (found an infrared sensor inside the rear lamp and the wires go under the seat where they were cut off, so he may be right

I read in other posts that the alarm is linked with the hazard lights, so there may be a connection here... I have looked at the electrical diagram but there is no one showing the alarm connections - if anyone has any of that I'd really appreciate.

I have checked all bulbs and they are all 10W.

I have replaced the electronic flasher relay but still the same.

Removed all relays and tested them, and sprayed ACF50 on all electrical connectors, still the same...

When switching on the hazard lights, same story - all 4 indicators are on, but still not blinking.

Any help appreciated

In my experience, once you have ruled-out the obvious with indicators malfunctioning (blown bulbs etc), a bad earth is often the cause.

To me it sounds like the line switch feed has been broken or sniped that goes to the relay, the fact that the lamps ( bulbs grow in the ground and turn into nice flowers) have the power (12v going to them to light the lamps) I would be suspect on the 12v feed line to the flasher...
Or the negative has been broken....no no...the lamps would short so no power to lamps...
Look at the relay, has it got 12v going to it.Check with multimeter
One of the cables will be a switch feed to the lamp circuit, whether it be a negative switch feed or a positive switch feed I dont know..

No, hang on a min..its an open circuit, switch to close..so you need power to close the gate...
Could be an earth
It could be the earth return on the switch line to the relay feed.
hope this helps...
