Indicators

The indicators on my R80ST have stopped flashing...... they do come on, so Im wondering if it is just the flasher unit that needs replacing.

What do the experts on here think?

I am ordering a new flasher unit from Motorworks, (and a new horn as that gave up its "beep" a while ago)

Mine does that after its been standing over the winter.

Sticky contact in the relay/ flasher unit.

Fix no 1. Leave switched on for a few minutes. Gets warm and the contacts release. Then its on, its off

Fix no 2. Remove relay. Give it a GENTLE tap. Replace.

Never had to replace one yet.

Does it do that on both sides? and do ALL the lights light up (including the dash indicator)? If so its almost certainly the relay. You could try a Dr Nosh gentle tap see it that works, if not test by substitution (which it sounds like you are doing anyways...)

It was being tempremental before.... wouldnt work (flash) for first couple of times using it, then would work once warmed up........ but now it wont flash even when left on for a minute or more....

So I have one ordered from motorworks, as I dont think I can tap it gently......I only do BIG hammer taps!

Solidstate... yes, all lights are working, including the idiot light, so I recon its the relay. It is 33 years old after all!
