Can some nice person tell me where is the best place as in best price to purchase a remus can from for the 1150gs?
Not had a chance to look about myself yet as I am at work so quickly nippin on here now to place the question and will check back tonight :thumb
Oh, and can it be used with the cat or do I have to change to a Y piece? Apologies for the girlie questions but I simply do not know!

Yes it can be used with the cat, no you don't have to change to a Y piece.

Advantages with a cat; nicer sound than standard, lighter weight, (not that weight matters when you are talking about a BMW anyway!!!), and you don't have any worries about mixture and set-up.

Advantages with a Y piece; nicer sound than standard, lighter weight, (not that weight matters when you are talking about a BMW anyway!!!), it appears to give more response/torque/power when used with the famous Steptoe Link.

As for where can you buy one, you can sort that out yourself or look in For Sale & Wanted section :thumb

Cheers Longdog, glad about the cat as didnt really want to spend more that I need to. Best price so far seems to be Motorworks and I have used them a few times lately and they do a speedy delivery. :blast forgot to check out the f/s section :thumb

IMHO the y-piece makes the biggest noise difference / weight reduction, and has the benefit of being hard for plod to tell you've messed with the exhaust ;)

Also means you can easily run on unleaded, if you've a big enough wallet / are in the middle of nowhere. Just need to watch whatever you do that if you have system panniers that the end doesn't get holed by the exhaust eflux

bare in mind, the steptoe link doesnt work/is not needed on some bikes

.
Plod doesn't give a toss if you've got a Y-piece or a Cat, both of them are perfectly legal:thumb2

unleaded?they all do that ,sir :augie:D

I know you said remus but have you had a look at THESE?
In carbon they look sexy, don't sound too loud and don't get too hot either (no probs with TT type panniers).

:thumb Piglet, any idea how much as had a quick look but could not see any prices ?

I managed to find a new one on ebay which was quite cheap. List prices HERE
but I'm sure I got quoted closer to £300 for a carbon can, can't remember where from now:confused: They are a direct replacement for the stock can with either a y piece or the cat.
With the race insert in the throttle response was much sharper but fuel economy takes a nose dive:D With the legal insert in it's just sounds a bit deeper and isn't invasive on long runs:thumb2
