Initial impressions are very good!

Wow interesting story

Bounce that pump!

Very off topic but the sump guard is made of plastic - would the bike benefit from a more sturdy one or is it ok in plastic?

Any opinions?

Fabulous looking bike!

I had a thorough look around one whilst my 1200 was in for service recently and was quite taken by it.
I had an 800 last year and the plastic sump guard was replaced quite quickly for an aluminium item I made at work.
If you don't go off of the tarmac then why bother changing it? If you do go off road then it's a no brainer to change it.
If it's all about the bling then you'll probably be changing it anyway. :D
'Substantial' is not the immediate word that comes to mind to describe the OE.

Depends on your bikes use I suppose or how you want it to look maybe :D

lots of options in the relevant section :D HERE

On my bike I have the BMW one in ali but had it powder coated black just because its the look I like Mind you it has some deep gouges in it so I see it as insurance also as underneath my engine is like a shiny new pin :thumby:

Your a man who makes shiny bling, what do you think? :nenau

Is this a long drawn out thread of you possibly making one ? :nenau
and some bitts and bobs.......

Got the BMW fitted to mine (made for them by Touratech) and had it powder coated black for the same reasons ;)

Even if you don't go off road it keeps the underneath nice'n clean and stops the FS365 coating (twice a year) from being sandblasted off :thumb

Even after 96,000+ miles and four winters absolutely no corrosion whatsoever :thumby:

..... and it's been off road quite a bit :D

Saw Mickey today and he kindly showed me his sump guard - if you go off road then I feel that a more substantial one is justified but on the other side of the coin the plaggy one is fine if you don't go off road.

So my initial thoughts are that one could be designed to not just do a good job but also look pleasing to the eye
