Inlet valve clearance

what is the current opinion opinion on R80 inlet settings, 10 or 15 ?

Thanks Kenny, I had them set at 10 too, but I have now just set them at a tight 15, so I will see how that goes for a while.

I have also just fitted a new (police) regulator, it kicks in much lower than the standard unit, and is way smaller too.

But I am still having a problem with my left hand carb flooding when I turn the taps on? I have fitted new floats, new float needles, and I have just fitted new float bowl gaskets. I have tried it parked with fuel in the bowls, or running it empty, it still does it when first turned on.

4 thou Inlet and 8 thou Ex or 0.1mm and 0.2mm respectively

Re fuel Are you sure you have float height set correctly? Just closing flow as the seam on the float is parallel with the base of the carb?

Or there must be a wee tiny bit of dirt catching somewhere turn off the fuel drop off float bowl stick a basin under carb and hold the float up and then turn fuel on and jiggle the float up and down and see if you get any stuff in the basin

I have adjusted the float hight as it seemed to be out, I shall see how that goes.
