Hi all,
It's been many years since I last owned a vehicle with tyres that used inner tubes but I recently became the owner of a BMW F800 GS, I'm planning on doing some adventure touring and thought it would be a good idea to carry a couple of spare inner tubes, it was at this point I realised I had very little idea of which makes I should be be looking at ?

Any advice with the above issue would be greatly appreciated.

Kind Regards

Will the valves fit through the rims of a tubeless set up? :nenau

I used Michelin inner tubes in on my XT660Z tenere, if that info is of any use?

Michelin do a reinforced tube - Airstop, Heavy duty tubes are also available - they are ffing huge so best fitted by someone else before you go and carry a normal tube as a spare. When I first ventured off to Morocco I had HD tubes with slime fitted, a front and rear normal tube as spares, levers and repair kit. I have now reduced that to HDs without the slime, 1 spare - a front, levers and a repair kit.

I would like to say a big thank you for all those that posted advice :bow
practice inner tube replacing will be starting in due course :blast

Cheers

I got two from BMW Motorrad in Krasnoyarsk, Russia (Siberia) for my F800GS after shredding my last spare. They are Pirellli and I assume they are the standard tubes, if you were to buy in the UK, they're heavy duty. In a pinch you can use pretty much any tube as long as it's roughly the correct size. There are a few tools that you'll need to change/repair a tube and one or two additional gizmo's to make the whole thing a bit quicker and easier when on the road. Personally, I tend to change the tube then take the punctured one to a garage to fix (they're usually much better and its a good opportunity to meet people) or I'll repair it later when I've stopped for the day. If you haven't given it any thought yet here's my kit, I keep this separate and independent from my tool kit:

ADV air compressor
Hand pump
2 x CO2 canisters
Pressure gauge
Spare HD tubes front & rear
Combination tyre levers-spanner (21 & 17 front & rear)
Sliding T-bar
E12 socket
T45 torx socket
Bead buddy
Mechanics gloves
WD40
Talcum powder & electrical tape (rim tape)
2 x rims savers
Valve stem puller
Buffer/Stitcher combo tool
Spoke spanner
Valve adapter
Razor blade
Patches
Vale cores
Valve stem nuts
Valve core removal tool
Vulcanising cement
