Hi,

I've fitted an Innovv K3 camera through an Innovv Powerhub 3. Seems to work perfectly apart from approx. 1 in 10 times it does't switch off. I posi tapped the yellow trigger wire into the red and blue 7.5amp wire under the seat. I'm at a loss why it works fine the majority of the time but will stay on periodically.

Any help gratefully received.

TIA

What bike ? that may help ;)

Also how did you work out it was the correct wire?

On my 1250RT, I am using the same wire as a switched live, only I am not using a power hub and it has worked fine for a couple of years now.

Was the cause of the periodic failure of the Innovv Power Hub 3 to power off ever successfully identified? I just installed one a few weeks ago on my 2016 R1200GSA and have it triggered by a tap into the Navigation system (Denali has a convenient Switched Power Connector to provide a switched 12V signal from the Nav accessory). I discovered today the hub was still powered on long after the bike was powered off (several hours) despite the yellow control line not being power off. Indeed, even after I physically disconnected the yellow control from the Switched Power source, the Power Hub 3 remained on. It reset after I disconnected the main 12V power (red wire). After resetting, the unit functioned as expected powering on and off as the ignition was cycled through start and stop. I tried 5-6 on-off cycles and could not reproduce the failure. So while this is soft error it is nevertheless real. It seems possible for the hub to remain latched permanently in the on-state without a control signal present. The design should not allow this. I will bring this to Innovv’s attention but in the meantime would appreciate any insight anyone may have.

Hi

The problem isn't resolved. 1 in every 8 or 9 starts the K3 stays on. I switch the bike back on and off again and it switches off. It's a mystery.

My K3 is wired in through the Powerhub 3. The switched live is through the 7.5amp wire under the seat.

In addition to the Powerhub 3, I also have an Innovv K5 camera installed on the same bike. The K5 comes with its own switched power supply with input leads identical to the Powerhub 3 (+12V, Gnd, Control Sense).. I have connected these in parallel to the Powerhub 3. It works flawlessly so the fault isn’t with the control signal.

With my Powerhub 3, subsequent cycling of the ignition on and off has no effect once it is in this strange state. I can only reset it by disconnecting the battery power to it.

I contacted Innovv to let them know of the issue. Hoping to get some guidance. I’ll be back with their reply. At the moment, I can only conclude either our Powerhub 3s have a manufacturing defect or Innovv has a more serious flaw in their design.

Thank you for letting me know. I'll also get on to Innovv and let you know. Regards, Howard

Had similiar issues with a switched live from my Cansmart. In the end I wired the K3 direct and haven't had an issue for over 3 years.

Innovv responded promptly and will send a replacement without further discussion. So they presume the original item is defective.

I'll be off on a trip so it will be a month or two before I can install the replacement. I'll update this thread after that with the result.

They got back to me today with the same response. Sending a new one straight out. I'll try and fit next week and let you know.

An update

The 2nd Powerhub 3 Innovv sent out was also faulty. Kept staying on every 8 starts. This time they sent another direct from China. This 3rd one works well without issue. There must have been a dodgy batch. To be fair, Innovv were very good.
