On saturday my next door neighbours daughter arrived late, to visit her mum.
They walked from there car which was parked in the service road to the front of the property, as they got near they found 2 men in my front garden trying to prize my bike cover off, when they asked what are they doing and who where they. They replied he is selling his bike and we want to look at it, as this was very late they asked them to leave,they waited until they left, as they where aware I was not here.
I am going to inform the police of this matter and will report back, to you all when I have more details.

So please if you live in the North london area in or around Enfield, please be aware and to lock your bike up with as many chains and disk locks you may have to protect your trusted steed.

Update 2 men late 20;s to mid thirtys. White medium build, the time about 22.45 (11.45pm). vehicle not known they walked off towards the Apple garage from my house.

I have reported this to the police cad 7206 4/11/11 for your ref. I am now awaiting for the crime team to call me back, to give a detailed statement.

2 white males late 20's early 30's med build, no other desc, no vehicle details seen looking under a motorcycle cover before walking off.

Ive had an idea

ive been pondering this idea for some time,an effective device i thinks...
You will need a large square length of 1" square rod bent like a shepherds crook to go round/Thru the front wheel, then somehow locked to the centre stand,so that you cant get the bike off the centre stand.
You could do another crook round the stand with a smaller radius,poss drill 2 holes in the bars and use a c lock and lock the bars side by side.
It all needs to be made from 1" bar because you cant cropper it.
Being as the bike is so fecking heavy, i think no bugger is gonna carry a gs away.what do you think?

True, yes, i accept that.
But rather than focus on the good, or say something supportive or even vaguely positive, he comes over so fucking negative and it would depress me if i were the O.P.

i like the idea and have considered similar / but not as good as yours.
However - i took the idea no further as i had visions of the Bike simply being hoiked onto a skateboard and rolled away as is.

Get a transit strap and strap the front wheel to the stand and then get you and a mate, and try and get it on a skateboard and see if thats possible?

If they want it, they'll most likely find a way to take it. It's difficult to stop them and the use of deadly force is sadly illegal. I suspect they'll be back at some point in the future to have another go.

You have to do all you can to increase security and make theft difficult.

Think your right they will return as this bike of mine is so big, so I am going to fit a lock to the front gate when out for long periods, as its been said its to king heavy to lift, and the gate is just wide enough to get through, thank god. Or just sell it

Have a go at the jumbo crooklok theory,it will put them off.
they will just go elsewhere,its unlike you C to give up so easily..
Another way could be to get an old car engine block and pass the chain thru the highest bore off the ground, then if they try and push it away, they will have to drag a car engine too.

Like Paul's idea of the 1" crook lock.

Nothing will stop them, it will only deter them.

Or how about bolting one of these to the house connected to the cover at least it would make a 'BANG' if it got tampered with.

Or why not remove a wheel, shouldn't take too long to replace when you want to go out.
