Stripped a buddy's FD, bike is an 05 with a decent milage up 50k+
Bloody hell, it looked like a piece of an old farm equipment.
This is all thats servicable everything else is banjaxed.
The longer an FD is used after its diagnosed as failing the worse the damage will be.
I am pricing the parts to see if its worth repairing.
The pinion shim was worn away so the new shim will have to be set for the correct gear mesh.

That’s a long list of parts Pat, It must have been quite a mess, hopefully its worth fixing!

€300 will cover the parts.
The main pinion shaft bearing was completly broken up and this is a big bearing.

It would be worth replacing all seals and bearings anyway just to be on the safe side. Reliability is everything on a big tourer after all.

No doubt it will be silky smooth and whisper quiet once rebuilt (which will probably surprise the owner after hearing it before the rebuild).
