I gave Motorworks a call last night to see if they had a secondhand non ABS instrument display in stock for my 2000 R1150GS. After 22 minutes on the phone the bloke admitted defeat after going through all the boxes and said he would email me if he found one. I got an email during the night telling me they had none.
So this means that either
1) in the UK you didn't get many none ABS
2) non ABS dont get wrecked as much as ABS
3) all the blokes removing the ABS gubbins are also swapping the instrument display so when it goes for a test the light is not there.

So which one is it?
And where do I get one from to replace the cracked one on my bike?

As a starter all info displays are the same on 1150's, whether ABS or non ABS and it's just an oblong box panel that comes out of the black plastic surround

The only things the non ABS version bikes have is no tell-tale lamps, to backlight the ABS warning display - however it's still in the instrument panel cluster, just not backlit

ABS or non ABS all use the same unit. The non ABS just doesn't have the abs bulbs in place. :D

I tend to agree. If you look at the warning light panel (telltale) to give it it's proper name. All the mandatory indications are in White and clearly visible without backlight. The ABS and Gen Warning are in Black which makes me think they are optional.

However, there are three different part no for this item, oddly two of the numbers are whether you have KpH rather than Mph. Non reference ABS / non ABS.

Kph 62142306443
Mph 62147663680
USA 62147663685

I take you have tried James Sherlock, and motobins, as well as eBay.

Which Part?

Hi Adrian,
Which part of your instrument display is actually cracked/broken? - i.e. which the part you need to replace? - somebody here may have that individual part lying around.

Cheers......................Grizzly:beerjug:

Hi Grizzly
Its the clear plastic cover that is cracked.
I had a mild whoopsie involving white road marking, a 4wd and me watching the bus in front of him. All my fault and just pride hurt, luckily I didn't take my helmet off so no one can recognise me. It has also got me looking at my font brakes too which I am hopefully curing when my parts arrive.
