Just went on to quinn as they seemed be charging me stupid money. found out they had not updated my ages so i am now 2 year older something that you would think be changed auto. also my skill level 3 course was never put onto my policy even though i rang at my renewal date to make sure it was on my file.

now i find out my ncb is gone as a claim was made last year. the claim was cancelled by today they told me they decided pay out even though it was closed as was settled outside insurance so now i have this on my policy.

how do i go about chacing down a claim that was paid out for that was not meant to be. i saw bike before xmas and was fixed so i rang and they told me no payment was made but now its changed. fact is the bike has lad of extra stuff new on bike so i think i am after getting shafted and have had lad get load new stuff that was damaged from a crash he had previously

just rang to see if claims ahndeller can contact me but no joy, all can find out is that they paid 2k out for a broken gixer screen

That's what you get when you deal with Quinn - I had a very similar experience as you.
Before you went with them if you did a search you'd have seen all the negative comments - people aren't going to the trouble of wasting their time posting reviews on the likes of these chancers without meaning it.
I didn't listen to people that tried advising me back then either ;) - about 6 years ago so they haven't changed.

what baffels the crap out of me is i was not even informed. 1 year later and i just happen to hear about ti when ask why dont have my NCB. their policy has not gone up so i am fine but if i want to change policies to some one else i will be shafted.

reason went for quinn was 2 year ago i was 23 and on prov so only quinn would insure me. rest wanted over 1k insurance, quinn were 500

An insurance insider told me, with insurance you get what you pay for. Sometimes the best policy is not the cheapest. The last time i rang quinn, i ended up in a shouting match with the idiot on the other end of the line. I've been with Carole nash for a good few years now and i have a good relationship with them. It's when you need to make a claim, is when you see the true colours of an insurance company. I know they don't do bikes, but apparantly FBD are the best to settle claims with.

Quinn policy is to settle claims as quick as possible. The reasoning is to stop the "lads down the pub" talking up the claim and letting a small claim escalate to all the whiplash and mental trauma that seems so common in this country.

The flipside of this is they'll pay out on a small claim to a third party way too easily which is one of the reasons I'm nervous about going with them.

Maybe give these a call: http://www.citizensinformation.ie/c...ax-and-insurance/motor_insurance#wheretoapply

Quinn may argue that they unsuccessfully tried to contact you for your side of the story so settled as a result.

through work i deal with insurance companys a lot,i have dealt with quinn a fair bit and there policy seems to be for a small claim (eg 2000 euro)it is far cheaper for them to pay up quick than to question the claim.
it costs them 250 euro to get an assessor to look at the damage.every letter from a solicitor is 40 or 50 quid.
the policy seems to be settle as fast and therefore cheap as possible,
its a good system from my point of view as i can book body work in and get paid the second it is finished,
bad point as john and padge said it you are in the right but there is a small claim against you them might pay out with even telling you
this is not exclusive to quinn i have seen other insurance companys doing that to.
as my own brooker said to me you do get what you pay for

well have been on to them there and girl admitted thatw as poorly handeled. stated i have witnesses that state the damage to the bike was done prior to this accident so from a damage of 500 it has rise to 2k. on to of that the bike was not even worth 2k back then so it should have been written off. if there is no further investigation i will be taking it to the ombudsman. also he claimed for loss of earning even though the bike was never used, parked up in work all the time and he had 2 other vehicles.

Reading through your original post again it seems the the real problem lies in the particular scumbag you had the accident with??

You said you settled with him outside the insurance?? and then he went and claimed off the insurance anyway inflating the whole incident with all that loss of earnings stuff.... It's scumbags like him that Quinn will settle with quickly knowing that they may escalate further with personal injurt crap.

You should have been contacted by them for your side of the story though.

I could be wrong, but with Quinn I think the moment someone starts a claim yer no claims is fecked even if it's settled outside the insurance.

i rang them again, they stated as i had contacted them to tell them there was damaged caused and that i had fixed it they opened a claim and closed it stating claim settled out side insurance. this was then re opened by other party with out my knowing and they paid out.

now she listed off everything that was fixed and to me they never investigated it and just replaced anything that looked bad. all of these items would have meant the bike would have been hit front end af speed ot do the damages not just have a handle bar of a bike that feel over do it.

so now they are re checking it as woman who looked into ti even stated herself it seemed strange that just payed straight out and it was not dealt with properly. that and up until 2 months ago there was no claim.

also it states that the lad who get bike fixed asked for the acessor to be delayed with for 1 month befor echecking bike.

there is lot issues and i am going fight these bastards the whole way as not have this hit me for the next 4 years

I had trouble with Carole Nash and I emailed the Irish Insurance Federation ([email protected]) and the Financial Regulator ([email protected]). The IIF was better and got onto CN on my behalf. Was sorted fairly quickly after that.

If you don't get anywhere with Quinn you could try those.

thats good to hear that they do actualy back you up.

yes i think if i dont get any luck in a week i will be emailing the FII or ambudsman

cheers good know that you can get help witht his sort thing

funny think is we are both with quinn and usually you think they try best not to pay out

It seems to me that there could be an element of fraud here!

When you settled did you get a signed letter stating that the amount paid was in full and final settlement?
If you did make sure that Quinn get a copy and insist that the matter is followed up with the Garda.

no i bought him the replacement parts. then few weeks later i find out after claim has closed, he took the part off and went to insurance.

not 5 months later i rang insurance after saw bike had load new trick bits on it and they told me there has been no pay out and claim was closed.

them other day i dind they did pay out bt never informed me of any of this

FALSE CLAIMS fuck right, i did the honest thing by fixing his bike even though i didnt know who damaged it, then informed insurance so it would all be legal and they opened and closed the claim as done outside insurance.

now he never reported any of this till few months later when he decided wanted load more stuff fixed on bike

even though it over year ago

I would go for it. I had an accident in a car many years ago. I ran into the back of a car and did a lot of damage to my car and a small amount to car infront. I hit him so I exchanged info etc. I did think something was not right when he jumped out of his car immediately and told me his back hurt. I was so shocked I couldn't take in what was happening.

The insurance paid out. As I went by the place the accident happened every day I noticed that he had repaired the car, he parked it on the main road. Then I noticed the back was damaged again, repaired again at least 3 more times. More than a year later I received a phone call from the Insurance Co. telling me he was taking a personal accident case against me. I said I was very surprised as there was no mention at the time and it was over a year later. I told them about seeing his car damaged so many times and also that he did claim to have injured his back at the time. I recalled a very serious accident I had been in years previously where I had serious neck injuries and knew it was many hours before I had any pain, his immediate pain was treated as suspicious.
The insurance followed it up and he was done for fraud.
So as I say go for it.

well thats good to hear. glad hear if i push then they will look into it further.

thanks for the support:aidan

justa n update.

quinn rang and said they will re instate my no claims bonus as i was not informed and was not investigated properly. so it will be down as a closed claim and no pay out made.

Good

That's one part of the problem sorted.
However, I don't think the scam artist should get away with it.
There are ads running on TV at the moment telling where to ring to report false and exaggerated claims.
Give them a ring, give them any info / docs they ask for and see if they'll do as they say they will.
As they say in the ad, he's had his hand in your pocket.
