1 month ago Thursday I was hit by a twat on the M4 on my way to work. Thankfully got away with just a bruised shin and a scraped bike. The old classic changing lanes and not noticing the big Beemer already in the space he wanted to get to.

Anyway bahnstormer were quick to recover and get things moving through devitt. Since then apart from chasing weekly and then daily during the last week no progress. Until the most amazing conversation ever, this is priceless. The 3rd party Admiral have instructed met to get my bike road worthy so they can cease the loan bike hire to limit their costs. So I have to get the bike repaired albeit at their cost to make it road worthy, till they get an inspector out to confirm the quote bmw gave them on the Fri after the crash 16th Nov. Response was...ah no way get them out to inspect the bike and get it sorted. This went on all day Thursday and into Fri, then the best phone call from admiral , Ah sir where is your bike at the moment.? I had to hang up before I sent down some expletives :censor: over the phone. Waiting till Mon morning to continue this with all parties.

So on that anyone else had issues in the past over above variety?

Your thoughts, comments or advice are most welcome.

Only advice i can give is............
Do not have any communication with the 3rd parties insurance.
Do everything through your own insurance.

Yep, noted I have only ever spoken to mine but when they called up and asked where the bike was, it tipped me over the edge. The guy in the car next to me must have thought what the hell is that guy on he has lost it..it's just so frustrating dealing with insurance issues.

Plus 1.
Never talk to the 3rd party insurance unless your own insurance asks you to. It's quite possible for them to pull the plug if the policy holder "interferes".

Quite how this solves organisational issue like the OP's I dont know. But do be careful.

Thats rubbish advice, it may work for you but not everyone.
Any claim I have ever dealt with, i have left my insurance company to deal with any injury claim and have always dealt direct with the 3 party insureres with regard to any damage to the bike and or clothing.
I personaly have always found it much quicker, and a better result for me. I would never leave the bike with any company, i have had it tanken to my garage and i have arranged for quotes from various repairers and then had any inspection from 3 party loss adjusters at my house on my terms.

So my advice would be NEVER go through your own insurance company do it yourself if you want it done properly and in a timley fashion. In addition the £10 a day storage that most bike shops charge can push a vehicle into the "not worth repairing" bin when in fact it is repairable.

However my advice as is the advice above depends on you and your circumstances and how happy you are dealing with insurance companies, and as such is equaly as worthless !!!

Agree - have had some good results dealing direct with third party insurance companies once I have had written confirmation that they have accepted liability ;)

Buzzman, you having a loan bike for weeks and weeks at ££££s has to be paid for by joe public. Bear that in mind when thinking about dealing with this.

Dealing direct with other Insurance party can get things moving quicker.

There was a thread recently where MikeO dealt with the insurance company and wrote it up here.

Do a search. Might learn something.

Listened to and noted. However, I have had problems (thankfully resolved) where I tried to do as @bowser suggests. To get around that, I personally would get confirmation in writing from my own insurers that this is acceptable. This could be done any time so need not delay a claim.

Thanks for the updates and stories guys,. Small progress bike is being inspected by 3rd party on Wed, so fingers crossed I will see it before Christmas.

Anyone ever deal with Plantech before, as much use as a chocolate teapot they are.

In hindsight I am none the wiser just infinitely more frustrated with the whole insurance side of things.

Here goes, well apparently Admiral kept sending the inspector to the wrong location, this happened twice. So weeks and a lot of £££ wasted whilst they send the inspector on a wild goose chase. So gother my beast back last Sat all nice and shiny and looking in far better shape than when j last saw it. After calling plantech in the sat morning to arrange cancellation of my loan bike and to let them know where to pick kt up from all seemed fine. Not so on Mon I get a voicemail from plantech saying they are still chasing authorisation and that everything is progressing nicely. After all the crap they gave me I did not have the energy to call up and say um....I have my bike yours is parked up at bmw maidenhead. Such a bunch of spanners. A big thanks to bmw maidenhead for their patience and turning round the repair quickly after they got authorisation from Admiral.

No wonder our insurance premuims go up each year with this kind of malarkey happening on a for to regular basis.

I had a mate who after being knocked off his Daytona 955i was given a 1250Bandit by Plantech

His bike was removed from the side of the road by a 3rd party acting on behalf of Carol Nash about 15 minutes after I had robbed all the decent unsmashed bits off it :D

The Daytona dissapeared oop norf somewhere for assesment and he never saw it again. The 3rd party's insurers admitted full liabilty and paid him out. He bought another bike and the Bandit sat in his driveway for the next 4 months slowly going rusty before he one day got a phone call from Plantech asking him if he knew where their bike was? :blast
