I have just got a GS1150 and have got the log book back and it states that the bike is an import, does this effect the insurance premium ?
Thank you

I have had three imports so far
The premiums have never been excessive so if there is a premium it is quite small

I've just bought an 1150 that was originally registered in Germany. I did test quotes (before I bought it) by changing the option on the website forms about whether it was an import or not and it didn't seem to change anything.

What have or; are you going to do to get it registered here?

I have also brought back my euro spec model but, will not have the time to do any changes until neext August.

So, reading with interest.

I assume his bike was already registered. Don't know for sure but it sounds like he only realised it was an import when going through the log book so if he didn't know it must be registered I'd have thought!

I am going to be registering an imported '85 Tenere this year but it's a slightly different process for a bike of that age.

Lots of main dealers (especially SPC) used to sell of imports from europe.
It doesn't make any difference to anything .

It was already imported from Germany and registered in the UK when i got it, if it makes no difference to the premium i was just wondering why they ask?
Any way the insurance is due next week so i will let you know, at the moment i have been quoted £241.50 Fully comp, so I will see what happens when i tell them it was first registered in Germany.

I think it's more aimed at imports that you can't get in this country and they'll pay a premium.

Try an online comparison quote with and without import tag. Insurance seems to be on the up at the mo so it may be more cash anyway.

my answer to the question is always, I bought the bike in the uk, they are all made in Germany so they all must be imported, and no I have no idea where the bike came from I bought it as a uk reg bike.
