Received my renewal notice today from Adelaide Insurance.

2 bikes
01 Triumph Trophy

04 1200 GS

Both fully comp.... 5 years full licence... 9 years no claim. Legal protection and breakdown service. €488.36. I must add that legal cover and breakdown service were optional extras at €70.00 :thumb2

Carole Nash... RDS Bike Show same cover as above, original quote €820.00 two minutes later €462.40 and legal and breakdown were standard with the policy. :thumb:thumb

AON €1100.00 and would not entertain any negotiations

I haven't tried Quinn... only because I've heard nothing but bad reviews.

Who else can I try

jus bout to renew mine with aon,1150 &vfr800.4yrs no claim,510euro,fully comp, wit all the breakdown cover, thats wit a wikla address,&a 34yr old rider

judging from feedback into MAG, the runners appear to be as follows;

in 1st place - Quinn Direct. best price / not a lot of "extras" / only good for single Bike insurance. opinions vary about their reputation - more seem happy than unhappy though.

in 2nd place - Adelaide, if you've the patience to go through the (apparently) longwinded procedure of getting a quote.

in 3rd - AXA, best for multi Bike policy and 'extras' as standard.

trailing in last place after a long time as market leader - Carole Nash, who dont seem to give a toss anymore.

worth going through the haggling / comparison / playing one company off of another process as so much depends on personal circumstances - where you live, value of Bike(s) and state of licence / "advanced" tests and insurance company riding skill assessments and no claims.

ebike;
blow hot and cold about coming into the Irish market - been stone cold for well over a year now.
so - not available here.

Good Luck and let us know how you get on. ;)

Best price they could give me was €1180 tpft.
4yrs NCB.2002 1150GS.Co.Galway address.

When I told them Adelaide's quote of €460 f.comp, they just said 'sorry, nothing we can do to match that'.That's the 2nd time.Same thing when I rang last year for a renewal
Not going to bother next year even though it's a toll free number.

I'm coming to the end of my current policy and am shopping around. CN by a long way the most expensive, Aon the cheapest but absolutely no discount for Rospa or their own assesment scheme. What's that all about?

Thst's odd.
They gave me 30% off for the assesment
+ DRZ was only a few quid extra (€40 If I remember right)
+ Got free ride other bikes
+ Got Full Bonus protect for a few pennies extra

I'd call them again to confirm?

thats ridiculous / but not suprising either.
you need to speak to someone higher up the food chain.
i'd go direct to AXA and if you still have no reduction for an Assessment / RoSPA drop me a p.m. with your specific details
i'll have a word :thumb

Another piece of info

I am renewing next week for 3 bikes. am the better side of 50 so that helps but
3 bikes 1980.1993 and 2000 comp for 488 with carol Nash after ringing and talking to someone am at 388. Did teh same with AON and am at 375 and there is still plenty of bargaining left. Get a name and get talking directly - they all want the business

yep :green gri
and (never thought i'd be able to say this in Ireland )
it's a buyers market :D

well.... for some of us at least - the old farts on less "testosterone driven" Bikes anyhow.

not so for my Son who still cant get a decent deal.

Firstly, I'll make it clear I haven't done an assesment or a Rospa test. I did ask how much I'd get off if I did. Their answer is that my premium quote is as low as they'll go, their base price, €259. If I had a higher group bike (like some fancy BMW fr'intsance :augie) they might be able to bring it down.

Thanks for that, and I know from experience not to be surprised. My wife when learning to drive took a course sponsored by the IFI (IIF? Insuranc federation..) which entitled her to a discount on her insurance. Did it apply when she actually went to take out a policy? What company? PMPA aka AXA.

I'm all in favour of extra training and I'll still do it but it's frustrating that the incentives are limited and I remain unconvinced by the companies' safety agenda.

Oh and thanks for reminding me, the cheque's in the post.:toungincheek
