Hi Folks,, Im trying to renew my insurance as cheaply as possible..
My renewal from Adelaide was €463 untill I told them that i got a quote from Carol Nash for €419. then Adelaide dropped to €400. As I have my health insurance with Quinn I tried them too but even with the 10% discount on account of my health insurance they came in at €498. so wont be going there..
Before I go with Adelaide does anyone know of anyone else doing bike insurance in the south..???

AON seems competetive if you have a car policy with Axa.
But adelaide has always come back with lower quotes.

I suck with Adelaide this year although it took a little bit of haggling. In the end the policy cost me €300 fully comp, bonus protection, breakdown recovery and medical cover.

Go back to Carole nash with the other 400 euro quote and keep going back and forth till they won't go any lower... Worked for me: Rang Carole nash and asked them how their quote was so ridiculously high. The guy on the phone actually agreed with me! Offered me same policy for 750 euro, no questions. I asked him if it was the best price and he said it definitely was. Rang Aon and Quinn and got quotes for 700 euro. Rang adalaide and they quoted me 495 but informed me that bike would have to be locked in a garage. Checked out price for building up side passage of house and putting a roof on, working out at about 300 for all the materials and a weekend of my time. Rang adalaide back and told them this.. They dropped it to 425! Decided to give cn one last try, 496 euro! Went with them as much as it pains me to do so. 425 was obviously better but would have required some major hassle in the building department! So after about nine phone calls and a lot of giving out saved myself 865.22 euro. The funniest thing was, the day after my final phonecall with cn I got a reminder from them by post with their original quote of 1361.22. Got phone bill after all the calls and total of phone calls came to 862.22 euro so saved in total 3 quid!

Some form of 'skill test' or assessment should reduce the premium.

AXA/Aon and Quinn Direct run their own. Ask them or search online for details (or contact your local assessor* :D ).

RoSPA advanced test is the best one (yes - i would say that :P ).

longwinded to go into here / send me a p.m. if i can help. :thumb2

*yes - i'm a part time instructor/assessor and RoSPA DIPstick. :D

I rand Adelaide again and they dropped it to €400 but they dont seem to cover the gear or helmet etc,, or the panniers.. Carole Nash are €419 and the cover from them is better but they wont drop their premium any more.. But for the extra €19 it might just be worth it to go with Carole Nash..

Thanks Ogmios, but I will pass on that.. thanks anyway..

........for the extra €19 it might just be worth it to go with Carole Nash..

I think Carol's bike recovery extends to mainland europe while Adelaide is (or was?) confined to Ireland & the UK (the british isles as some term it :augie)

anyone know any where better than quinn for younger riders, even at 26 quinn cheapest

Hi Lads,

I changed this year to Adelaide. On my '06 1200 GS fully comp... €260!

Quinn also came down to this, but on advice from the site I went with Adelaide.

Believe it or not but I was quoted just over 700 this year by C&N and I rang them and said I wouldn't be going with them as I was after getting a better quote I also mentioned I had done the gaurd bike safe course but the lad said they didn't give discount for it I said OK so I'll defo go with the other company he said hold the line had a chat with someone and came back with a quote for 550 I said send me the paper work. That was on the BMW when I had it. Mind you the insurance went up by 70 when I changed to the Africa Twin. :blast I asked why as it was a smaller bike he said it was higher risk. I'll fight this next year... :D

Yes, Adelaide's cover doesn't extend to bike recovery in Europe and they don't seem to think it's of any importance. Factor in the cost of buying that cover elsewhere and you'll see why Carole Nash offer a better deal.

Got it sorted at last.. Went with Carole Nash fully comp on 07 1200adv for €405.00 . they said there would be an extra €45 for cover for gear and helmet.. but right now I cant afford this so will give it a miss..
So Legal for another year.. hopefully I might get out on one of the runs frrom this site..

if you intend travelling to europe Quinn only covers ireland & uk, it happened to a friend of mine last year, he rang them from france when he realised he had no insurance and they charged him an extra 89 euro to extend his cover. Maybe they have changed their policy since but be aware.
