Gents... I’ve tried to get Carol Nash to cover my new LC (collecting this Saturday) but guess what... due to the bike being so new it’s not as yet been rated by their underwriters, so they hope to get back to me with an answer within the next few days. I’m a tad surprised as they are one of the UK’s largest bike insurers! Meanwhile, I’d be grateful to receive advice from any of you lucky few who have taken delivery of their LC’s to whom you are insured with? Appreciate BMW themselves offer cover, including the first 5 days for free but in the long run may not provide the most competitive option.

Many thanks and look forward to some feedback.

... interesting

... perhaps unsurprising... I told the CN sales rep it was the new LC which has just been launched... he replied... “sorry, it’s not on my list, I’ll have to check with my manager” with the subsequent outcome!

Had mine for 3 weeks and insured it 2 weeks before that with.................Carol Nash!

+1 :thumby: I also just insured my LC with C.N.
When I told them it was a 2013 GS, they asked if it was the new 2013 model, yes, then reinsured with no further queries.

I went with BMW very competitive and no issues insuring my new LC.

I'm with BMW, so obviously no issues. It cost around £3 more to insure than my 2012 Triple Black:P

... well my second enquiry this afternoon to Carol Nash provided a more positive response... the next operative had the right details for the LC and it all went through without a hitch. I have asked them to ensure all their staff are up-to-date with the LC as I see others have experienced the same initial blank reaction as me.
Thanks for your feedback.

Perhaps calling it an LC was the problem??

Exactly - there is no such bike as the LC/WC/whatever - it's a 2013 model year R1200GS pure and simple. Some insurers will distinguish the TE and Enduro variants (both are listed seperately on the ABI list) some haven't bothered.

Mine was insured by Ebike they said they could not cover it.

I lost 1years NCB because I cancelled my policy early and to cap it all they wanted to charge me £75 to cancel

... referring to the bike as liquid cooled (abbreviated to LC for the sake of the missive) was not the problem as the first operative I spoke to had the original air cooled GS as a 2013 bike and got himself totally confused... while the second guy had the 2013 LC listed and understood the difference... it seems a bit of a lottery who answers your call at CN. Anyway, it’s all sorted... happy days! :aidan

I did the same and when I emailed them and said it was a GS TE they said we can not cover it. Be careful you know insurance companies will try and find some way of not paying out.
There would be nothing worse than some T*** stealing or writing off your pride and joy to find they dont pay out.

Good luck with your insurance tomorrow Neil. Fingers crossed that the snow is not as bad as forecast. Due to collect mine on Saturday from Southport.
