I charged mine every few rides when used for chat and directions when out on rides.
If I was doing commentary demo rides then the say 3 hours out with about an hour of my yaking would see it needing a recharge before venturing out again.
Making your own on bike power supply for it isnt that hard and I built a Autocom adaptor for it using an AA battery pack from ebay and an autocom Kenwood lead

its worth noting that the radio is really a Wouxon KG-703E and you find the radios and accessories on HK ebay for not much money. The AA battery pack I butchered to make my autocom interface was less than £5 delivered.
