Got an Intaride 803...

Instructions with it are vague to say the least ( IMHO) There's sections on the following but it doesn't explain it :(
6) R-DCS: Sets the DCS (Digital Scrambling) Receive channel (Off – 1 – 210)

7) R-CTCS: Sets the CTCSS Receive channel (Off – 1- 50)

8) T-DCS: Sets the DCS (Digital Scrambling) Transmit channel (Off – 1 – 210) Set the transmit, and the
Receive changes automatically

9) T-CTCS: Sets the CTCSS Transmit channel (Off - 1 – 50) Set transmit, and the Receive changes
Automatically

on their site there's a Kenwood to Intaride frequency guide. I'm off on the 9th and would like to be able to talk to the others on our continental trip

Kenwood Intaride
1 1:10
2 8:08
3 3.13
4 6:05
5 4:17
6 2:18
7 7:19
8 5:07
9 1:14
10 8:15
11 3:16
12 6:06

So as the 803 appears to have 8 channels WTF does the guide above mean?

Any advice humbly received ;)

If your buddies use Kenwood channel 1 then you need to set your 803 to main channel 1 and CTCSS code 10. Thats all Ive ever done. The CTCSS just means you wont hear transmissions on channel 1 (say) that aren't using it. Dont think you should use the scrambling features. From memory you set the T-CTCSS to 10. Maybe PM me and we can go through it or maybe somebody else can help.
I concur the supplied instructions are rubbish though

Bryn, the table is specifying the main channel and the sub-channel that needs to be selected on the Intaride to match the appropriate Kenwood channel.

E.G.

Kenwood 1 matches Intaride channel 1 sub-channel 10

To set the sub-channel on the 803 to match Kenwood 1

1. Ensure you are on CH 001 on the 803
2. Press Menu
3. Scroll through the menu until you get to either R-CTCS or T-CTCS
4. You now need to set the sub-channel for either Receive or Transmit - if you set if for Receive then it is automatically set for Transmit and vice versa.
5. With the menu showing either R-CTCS or T-CTCS press Menu
6. Now press the up or down button until sub-channel 10 is selected.
7. Press Exit
8. Your display should now show CH 001 and a small 10 to the right.

If you have any probs give me a call, I've got an 803 myself and this is quite easy to do.

Thanks for your replies... I'm of this coming thursday and won't get together with Parky for a couple of days, but by the sounds of it with your instructions I'll get it sorted :beerjug:
