Interesting Statistic?

Just noticed the number of replies for the two 'stickies' at the top of the page regarding fuel pump controller failures.

As I write this, there are 486 with no problems and 243 with a problem.

Ergo, twice as many, or indeed 66%, have not had a problem with FPC failure.









































I must get a life sometime.

That's a frightening result for a "quality" motorcycle.

I don't ever reading anywhere that it's a 'quality' motorcycle. Expensive, yes - that's on the invoice.

But then, talk to Ducati owners about reliability, or VFR owners about regulators or.......

Now don't get me wrong - Tim did a great job getting a 'resolution' to the problem but remember BMW are there to make money and despite all these issues they still sell shead loads of these bikes.

Sorry, got it wrong. It's UNSTOPPABLE!

Apart from the things that stop you: FPC, EWS, etc., etc., .......

Had 3 BMW's, 06 K1200GT, 07 1200GSA, 08 1200RT-SE. Loved them all. Great bikes, just sick of being an unpaid BMW development rider and paying lots of dosh for the privilege.

Meaningless statistic.

I have never had a problem but neither have I replied to the thread. - Comparing the number of answers to the number of BMWs means the sample is very small and as people who HAVE had a problem are more likely to shout it is quite likely that there are a much larger proportion of bikes that have been OK than the poll shows.

Its far from an accurate picture tho. i have replied to one about my old 1200, but I can't be arsed to find some wood to touch whilst replying about the GSA.
I doubt I'm the only one...

I had 3 1200RT&GSA in the past 5 years, FPC never faield ( but was replaced on one RT due to other issue ) yet or the servo brakes.

What proportion of the total, responded......no idea.
What proportion of the total no. of bikes have had a problem.....no idea.

I think the FPC is one of the few things on mine that hasn't misbehaved. Front and rear suspension units, gearbox seal, final drive, now the ABS controller. It's a 55-reg with 24000 miles on it.
