I had a steady ride to Seaways this afternoon and this WC pulled in

The crash bars looked like a interesting add on but the rest of the bling just looked too much to me.

If that's the bike I'm thinking of then I think the owner has some connection with Touratech, hence the marked up bike and the rider wearing a Touratech suit. If not then it is OTT! :)

The panniers, the add-on bottles - all to travel 30 miles. :blast Probably had a Camelbak in case he died of dehydration on the journey......................

Oh dear!

Feckin orrible those crash bars look like they were bolted up by a mad scaffolder.

yes i too thinks its the TT demo Bike, it does seem to have lots of extras on it …

Was there a new Gortex toilet roll cover in the outside loo, a sure sign of Touratech, other clues are titanium tea spoons and fold up chopsticks. Perhaps if the owners of Seaways were aware Touratech were in the area putting the price of a cup of tea up to £5.00 would seem reasonable. Perhaps a laser cut aluminium tea cup handle guard could be offered.

As long as they do the job - WITHOUT costing more than the rocker covers and side panels they're meant to protect. ;)

That wrap job, though... looks like a mobile Mad Hatter's tea party with added Marijuana.
And I'm willing to bet that if the rider had the first idea of what was going on in Zimbabwe right now, he'd be ashamed to display its flag. :1/10

Now't wrong with having wee bit of Touratech on your bike and if you watch Herbert Schwarz Touratech ZimZamBot DVD you can get an interesting insight to what the countries like although the Touratech bike tour was made up of Germans and Americans rather than us British!

I didn't think anyone would be able to ride a motorbike there.................Although they did seem to have one or two problems with the Zimbabwe Police on their travels............Most of the folk they met seemed decent enough!

FP.

Please don't get me wrong - the landscape is nothing short of breathtaking, and the ordinary people are great.
Being a thinking, anti-neo-liberalist South African, the beef I have is with Zimbabwean politics.
Robert Mugabe, Zanu-PF, wholesale land grabs, a currency that's atrophied so badly in the last 15 years or so that it's worthless even within its own borders (most merchants only accept payment in ZAR or US$), torture and suppression of political dissidents, mass starvation.
The only thing holding Zimbabwe up at the moment is its tourism industry. And Zanu-PF have even been making threatening noises against that.
Zimbabwe is essentially a failed state.

I have a good friend from Zimbabwe and he says the same thing he was forced to leave in a hurry when his farm was taken he still has property across there but is doubtful if he will every get the chance to move back. The thing is the farm is now deserted the people who took it did not have a clue and killed all the farm workers who knew how to run it.

Yeah, I've met and worked with a few(white) Zimbabwean farmers over the years and they've said the same thing...............Some of them had it really tough and only just made it out of the country...............My great uncle was some sort of Commisioner over there after the war and it must have been a very different country then!

Yup... because it was a British colony. ;)

Seriously though, the trouble is that the problem isn't just specific to one or two countries. It's symptomatic of almost every ex-colonial African territory.
My girlfriend is Portuguese. She lived in Mozambique during her early years, and she remembers a time when the country actually worked.

We went there together in January last year. The first hint that it might not be what I was hoping for came when she insisted that I do the driving.
Maputo was a cultural feast, but in traffic terms, it was a nightmare. The freeways are sort-of OK, but on anything that isn't a freeway, it's every pirate for himself. Many times, I had to swerve to avoid Mozambican cars who, avoiding potholes on their side of the road, would simply head toward us, uncaring (or maybe unknowing) that they were pushing us into the verge.
Corruption is an everyday institution. My girlfriend warned me time and again not to get anywhere near the police's bad side - apparently it's not unknown for white South Africans to simply 'disappear' in police custody. The streets, the buildings, the infrastructure were falling apart. And God help you if you walk on the side of the street closest to the Presidential palace - detention without trial.

According to the accessory manufactures (e.g. TT, etc.) we should be grateful to them for supplying parts to ALLOW us to "evolve" the absolute "Useless" original BMW product into something absolutely f*#^king amazing!

Just think how lucky we are to have these accessory manufactures!!!!!!!!! :jes Aren't we blessed to be so PRIVELAGE to have these opportunistic lot around!

If people keep buying shit, shit will continue to be made.

Save your cash for fuel or trips fellas - as has oft been said here, if Touratwat sell it you DONT need it.

I had an 09 GSA that came with some Touratech stuff on it from the dealer, the worst thing about the bike was the TT pointless shite on it, couldn't get it off quick enough. Still, it made me a few quid when I moved it on so I suppose its good for that at least.
