I used my K75S on Saturday to do some instructing; bike was running fine, stopped for a chat with the student and then bike restarted but sounded like a bag of spanners and immediately cut out, tried again several times with same result, it just did not want to tick over and sounded awful. Eventually after a few more attempts it did start and ran sweet as a nut, I took it home and swapped bikes and finished the lesson on my GS as I did not want to risk the K75 failing on me totally.

I have recently changed the plugs so they are not at fault so where do I start looking? Is it a coil breaking down?

Any insights will be gratefully received.:thumb

Thinking about it What was the Tacho needle doing when you were trying to start ?

Test : Making sure that the cooling fan works (Usually reaching in and making sure it spins and the fuse for "Lufter" is okay it was fuse 7 on K100 )

I am thinking your H.E.S.

Whilst stopped there was a build up of heat and the insulation somewhere along the way becomes defective until it cools down again

So run the bike till hot, either by riding around the block close to home,,, or in the yard itself stop it as you did when out with the pupil and try it again

If it wont start spray the o/s/f face of the engine with a hose and try again If it starts clean the H.E.S. are likely culprits!

Cheers Doc - won't get chance to try this until next week.
