Yes - IE is a total nightmare. I have stopped using it all together and use Mozilla instead.

Sorry that I can't suggest anything with your IE, but you might want to try Mozz and see how you get on?

Your local servers might be repaired/upgraded if all your pc`s are having trouble. Your internet applications all use different addresses and so inturn different out going servers.
Leave them for a day or so and try again and i`m sure they will work.
When you can get online type in mozilla firefox and download that with google set as your homepage. Dont download any of the other programs offered unless you have a tip top pc. Mozilla and google are easier to use and give you far more scope on the world wide web..and you dont have to type http:/www.etc.etc. You can also type in direct questions...its all very user friendly.
Just as an after thought, have you turned it all off, including the router and pulled the three pinned plugs for ten seconds?

I had similar problems a while ago.

Through a process of trial and error I discovered it was AVG. I suspect AVG had detected the open internet connection and was disabling IE until it had phoned home to check for an update of the virus database.

I've since swapped to the free version of Avast's virus checker and the problem went away.

thanks for all replys think its fixed now i noticed a yellow shield in task bar (windows updates ready to install) or something like that. did the updates and turned everything off last nite.turned on this morning all back to normal :thumb

Ah ha..sometimes the windows updates can take up so much pc usage and band width that your pc wont do anything until the updates are installed. I feel this was the problem.
