Interphone 5xt - how to connect to the computer

I am trying to update the software in my 5xt but I don't know how to the connect to the computer. do i use the charging cable and plug the usb into the laptop or do i need some other connector to the f5 unit?

I presume it's the normal USB jack? Plug it in and try?

I have tried the normal USB in the computer and jack into the charging hole but the update wizard is telling me it can't find the USB device. I assume you need to remove the F5 unit from the helmet and then plug into the back of the unit rather than the charging plug. the problem is that the USB type connector in the f5 unit is an odd size and i have nothing that fits....before i scour the internet for an appropriate adapter i wanted to get a view from those who have updated the software how they have done it.

I have the Interphone 5MC and am having update problems too- you are correct you need to use the USB to USB lead to update. The jack is purely for charging the unit. My problem I have is I cannot update the firmware on a Mac and it will not update on my Netbook on Windows 8 as there is no update available for a 64-bit system! go figure.Had they told me that in their ads I would not have bought the unit!!
