Got the Zumo 660 and Interphone bluetooth kit fitted yesterday and tried it out for the first time today. Not sure about the 660. Took me on a circular 12 mile route back to my start point instead of the destination I had put in. The Interphone kit I am having problems with. It connects instantly to the Zumo and works fine. It won't stay connected to the pillion set. I have followed the instructions in the handbook but it won't operate as described. ie press the multifunction button for a couple of seconds until I hear the second sound. I hear the second sound but it does not connect.
Has anyone any similar problems or advice please?

Make sure you pair the interphone in exactly the order it says to in the book.
I can't remember if it's phone-gps-second Interphone or what without looking, but if you do it in another order it "forgets" the interphone-interphone pairing.

The MD of Interphone lurks on this site so may come in with any other options.

I had a similar problem in the beginning but if you ask/email/phone Interphone Customer Service they are ACE at getting back to you with good advice.

Great piece of kit!:thumb

Thanks Sean. Will try Interphone.

Interphone and Zumo 660

I'll try and help here, but if you want to email or phone us direct that's fine.

You must download and install the latest BT firmware from Garmin for the Zumo (via 'webupdater') before you start - they like Interphone so much they mod the firmware to work better with it!

What is the BT sw version of the Zumo by going to Tools>Settings>System>About>Software Version
The latest version is 3.30

The critical thing is to pair everything in the right order;
1. Interphone to Interphone (and remember which one you set as 'master' = volume up button) Then make sure that they connect correctly. If not, repeat until they do. If you're still having problems, either one of the units is faulty, or you aren't following the instructions exactly. In either case, give us a call and we'll talk you through it. Sometimes it helps if the first time they connect you initiate from the master - after that it shouldn't matter.
2. Master to Garmin Zumo
3. Phone to Zumo

Pairing is always quicker and more reliable if there isn't a lot of other BT noise around when you first do it - so switch off any devices that you aren't pairing at that moment.
It also helps if you delete all old relevant but redundant pairings from Zumo and phone before you start.

Also, check on the Zumo that Interphone (= STMOTO) only appears in the list of paired headsets, and not as a phone. If it appears on the phones list just delete it.

If you're still not happy give us a call.
(we only want happy customers :comfort)

Does anyone know - will the Interphone do this ?

I currently have an Autocom which is getting a bit old and am looking to replace it.
What it will do is enable SWAMBO and I to use the MP3 player as well as the GPS (and bluetoothed phone through it - on a really sad and geeky day) whilst still being able to talk to each other.
Will an Interphone let us do this ??
From the info on the web site it does not appear possible - anyone know because its looks like a good peice of kit.

Sorry, but Interphone can't do what you want.
It's designed primarily as a wireless intercom, and happens to use Bluetooth as its radio channel. It majors on audio performance for speech, noise reduction and range (up to 500 metres line-of-sight)
This means that it can connect individually to other compatible bt devices (like Zumo, most phones, etc) - but it can only manage a 1-to-1 connection at any time.
It also means that you and your partner can't listen to the same alternative source unless it has a dual bt output.

The upside to this is that only you can hear the phone or GPS.

see www.interphoneuk.com for more details

We are working on developments to give the features you require, but in a 'wireless' environment - watch this space (as they say)

Some trouble...

Help me please!

I connect my two Interphone without any problem. I can activate the comunication with the passenger by pressing the button 2 seconds and then standby by pressing button 1 second.

I connect my Zumo 660 (updated to firmware version 3.30) with the master Interphone but now it's always connected to the Zumo and I can't speak with the passenger.

While Zumo and Interphone are connected (always and immediatly on power on) if I try to press Interphone button 1 or 2 seconds nothing happen. The Interphone is "blocked" to the Zumo.

I must deactivate the Zumo's bluetooth function, power off and power on the master Interphone and then I can speak with the passenger.

The Interphone have to stay connect to the Zumo when in standby (like when connect to a cellular phone). I press Interphone button for 2 seconds and connect to the passenger, then I press button 1 second, return in standby and connect to the Zumo.

How can I have this?

If none of this works you have something faulty, and you need to refer it back to your supplier.

Excure me but, as I wrote, I follow the procedure carefully.

The Interphones are paired perfectly and works great.

Then I pair the master Interphone with the Zumo.

The Interphone (STMOTO) is the only headset and there isn't any phone.

I power on the Interphones and they works.

Then I power on the Zumo that connects immediatly to the master Interphone and works perfectly with this but can I switch to the other Interphone?

Are you able to disconnect the Interphone from the Zumo?

OK - understood.

I haven't seen that condition before.

Can you look at the settings inside the Zumo regarding how/when it connects, what it is putting out on the bluetooth, etc.

We're not complete experts on the latest Zumo, but it does seem that it's the Zumo that is causing the problem.

I will send your inquiry to the technical people we know at Garmin.

Thank you!

I found all the ways but there ins't any settings to change the Zumo behaviour unless a technical direct from Garmin.

I think the problem is the way Zumo connect to the Interphone.

Zumo have to connect to Interphone while Interphone is in standby allowing Interphone to connect to the other Interphone by pressing button 2 seconds.

Instead, I think, Zumo take the bluetooth channel reverved to the comunication Interphone/Interphone.

I hope that Garmin works on this problem.

Effectively Zumo works well with Interphone considered only like an headset and no like an headset and an interphone at the same time.

Interphone is a perfect headset for Zumo: I thinks this is enough for Garmin.

I believe in a solution...

Can you keep me informed on your progress with Garmin?

We've got Garmin on the case, and trust that they respond promptly.

I'll keep you informed.

Nothing concrete from Garmin as yet.
Thanks for the 'nudge' - I'll pass it on to them, and hope for a response.
The UK support guys are usually pretty good, but they are very dependent on the engineering team in the USA.

Can anyone with a Zumo 660 check to see if the BT software has been update from 3.30 yet on the Garmin updates site?
